From the latest Woodpile Report:

Take me to the brig, I want to meet the real Marines.
 General “Chesty” Puller, USMC
An article by Army Reserve Colonel Ellen Haring published in the Armed Forces Journal advocates lowering the physical training standards for female combat officer candidates. Colonel Haring, a 1984 West Point graduate and current War College “concept officer”, along with Sgt. Maj. Jane Baldwin, filed a successful lawsuit against the Defense Department for denying combat roles to women. Now she says physical ability and combat training matter less than being creative and remaining calm. According to the Colonel, by “celebrating strength” we’re filtering out future Audie Murphys. Miss Ellen’s been misinformed. Murphy was a he. And today he’d be filtered out in the first day of sensitivity training. If anybody needs filtering out it’s Colonel Haring…’

I imagine Ronbo and Oswald might have something to say to Ms. (can’t bring myself to call her Colonel) Haring.

“..physical ability and combat training matter less than being creative and remaining calm.”
    Riiiight…speaking from experience, is she?
    We know she’s not.
As physical fitness and strength improve, so does aggression. Ask any Army recruit instructor. A high level of aggression is essential in combat units.
As for her idiot assertion that physical strength is not important, that’s merely an excuse to cover the fact that wimmin can’t cut it.
Try lugging cans of ammo in 110f heat or slogging through snow carrying a couple of jerrycans of fuel, Ms Haring, before opining on physical strength.
And while her ideal wimmin officer is standing with her finger up her ass pondering “creativity” and “calmness”, a man who has been (unimportantly) combat trained will have to save that said ass for her.
That’s if her “leadership” has left any men alive.

Sitting in a circle and holding your enemy’s hand while singing “kumbaya” is a sure winner. If not, shouting across no man’s land to the enemy that they are “racists” will cower them into submission.

  4. Findalis says:

Before the decision on women in combat the women cried that they can do what the men do. That they don’t want standards lowered. Now it is opposite.

    Hypocrites!

  5. Michael in Nelson says:

Did it ever occur to those stupid bitches that it is the physical training that allows combat troops to remain calm and the hard tactical exercises that train them to be ‘creative’ (i.e. use their initiative)?

    • Findalis says:

Can you imagine them trying to carry 70 lbs of equipment on their backs? They would lobby for the packs to be much lighter for women.

  6. K2 says:

When you affirmative action women in the front lines, it’s a sign that your country is not serious about defending itself. The Israelis tried it and quickly abandoned it – when you are in a war of national survival vanity “equality” issues go out the window.

  7. There is one job women and gays could do in the army that wouldn’t require strength and I would be quite happy about–mine detection.

    • Findalis says:

There is another job that they can do. Medic. They don’t carry a gun, and women do the work already in civilian life.

      • Oswald Bastable says:

They have done this job for the last 150 years- often in the most trying conditions and with great courage. Many have lost their lives doing their duty and this idiocy trivializes the sacrifices these fine women have made

        • Findalis says:

I’m not trivializing their sacrifices. Instead I am merely pointing out that women medics have not asked for special consideration when training for their work. They do a dangerous job, with low pay and little thanks.

Another group of women who need to be praised are those women who volunteer to be smoke jumpers and forest fire fighters. They train right next to the men, risk their lives and get no pay for it.

Neither group have ever asked for special treatment or considerations, but have worked diligently at their jobs. And have died for it too.

    This is Obama’s Defence Force.

The one he will need to defend him and his gang of crooks if the uprising ever occurs.

    Here’s another infuriating story-

A guy fired from the air force for not having the same views on homosexual marriage as his lesbian commander.

Contempt, solid gold. A full scale war will be catastrophic and this lady will not be Semper Fidelis to anyone. Nervous.

  12. Oswald Bastable says:

    Where to start…

Of course women have a place in the military- in the rear, with the gear!

This ersatz-colonel does a great disservice to the thousands of women who have served with bravery and honor WHERE THEY DO BEST- in support and ESPECIALLY in the medical corp!

    • Findalis says:

Or in the sky flying as ferry pilots.

Women make great Supply Sergeants, and Company NCOs. We are better at paperwork and can free a man for a combat assignment. We can do maintenance on tanks, jeeps, trucks, ships, planes, etc… We are excellent at moral and training. And we can keep a base running smoothly with very little effort. All these things help in a war effort immensely. In fact plenty of wars have been lost due to bad logistics. Just as Napoleon Bonaparte. I bet he wished he had some of those women who work behind the lines.

  13. KG says:

Judge Col. Tara Osborn blocked evidence from Maj. Nidal Hasan’s trial that prosecutors said would explain his motive for opening fire at Fort Hood. Thirteen people were murdered and more than 30 were wounded in the November 2009 attack.”
    from Breitbart

  14. Contempt says:

    Tara?

  15. Ronbo says:

As I said before, women in the U.S. Army have always had a much less demanding P.T. test, so you could press gang them into the infantry, armor and special forces…but they aren’t likely to stay in this “grunt” units.

On the other hand, in the combat support units like Military Intelligence, “In the rear with the gear” the women soldiers do okay, as they have separate bathrooms and sleeping areas.
