‘On the day Bennie Coleman lost his house, the day armed U.S. marshals came to his door and ordered him off the property, he slumped in a folding chair across the street and watched the vestiges of his 76 years hauled to the curb.
Movers carted out his easy chair, his clothes, his television. Next came the things that were closest to his heart: his Marine Corps medals and photographs of his dead wife, Martha. The duplex in Northeast Washington that Coleman bought with cash two decades earlier was emptied and shuttered. By sundown, he had nowhere to go.
All because he didn’t pay a $134 property tax bill….’

    You own your property right? Property tax is not tax,it’s rent.Rent you pay to the government which if you fail to pay,the government takes your property and kicks you out in the street.Now,tell me again,do you really own your own property?

    People look at me like I’m from Mars when I tell them that.It’s immoral,it’corrupt and it’s tyrannical,but it’s also deeply ingrained to the point most just accept it.

    The best system is a sales tax system,it’s the only fair system and the only one prescribed by the Constitution.

    I was shocked when I heard about this property tax thing in America, when I had some Americans visiting recently, i kept asking them in different ways about it. I just couldn’t believe that in the so-called land of the free that you had to pay property tax every year.

    At first i thought it was just rates or something so they can come pick up your trash and pipe you water, but no, that’s all extra.

    Very sad what happened to this fellow, I’m sure his fellow Americans will look after him though, plenty of good Americans left there even if some are just bastards.
