I can imagine Gillard or Rudd doing this.

abbott NOT.
‘PRIME Minister Tony Abbott has taken a break from running the country to help fire crews fight the bushfires gripping NSW as a volunteer firefighter.
Mr Abbott worked a night shift helping back burn near Bilpin with his Davidson Rural Fire Brigade from Sydney’s Warringah Pittwater Rural Fire District…’

Good on him, there is no way our Kenyan Pillow biter would even climb in a truck, let alone volunteer for anything.

It looks like Henry V has joined his band of brothers :!:

Actually, I *can* imagine Rudd donning a helmet and hanging out the window with a big thumbs-up. Provided, of course, there were cameras a-plenty to capture the moment. Go anywhere near the front lines? You gotta be kidding.

What’s missing from the snippet above (although implied by the word “his” in the phrase “with his Davidson Rural Fire Brigade”) is that this is not what Abbott does; it is who he is. Volunteer fire-fighter, volunteer surf lifesaver and a man who spends part of his vacation every year working in the Outback with indigenous communities.

Not exactly the knuckle-dragging, selfish, hater KRudd and Gil-tard projected (with the help of “their” ABC and the Fairfax hate press), is he?

Rudd would probably do it if the idea entered his brain, but he’d insist that one of those water-bombing choppers take him and his sauce bottle into the fire zone, have all the firies there to welcome him for the photo-op and stand there with him while the fire rages on. After maybe 5 or 10 minutes, he’d fly out to post it all on twitter and go hide somewhere pretending he’s still fighting the fires.

I’m glad the idea never occurred to him, the waste of space. Thank heavens we got rid of him and the labor party hates him too much to bring him back.

I sure hope you’re right. In any case, he’d only be one of a number of rotten leaders. They all stink.

Yep. Yet still I see and hear lefties claim that these things are mere photo-ops. Of course they know they’re not, but nothing must get in the way of their hatred for what Abbott represents.

Good on him, the man is an inspiration.

At the very least, he’s a refreshing change from the union thugs and bent lawyers of Labor.
