NZ’s National Party: Socialism in drag.

Petrol prices will rocket by 7 cents a litre on Friday as increases to GST and the fuel excise deal motorists a double blow.
The Automobile Association’s Mark Stockdale said he expected the GST increase from 12.5 per cent to 15 per cent would bump up petrol prices by 4c a litre and diesel by 3c a litre, based on current prices.
A 3c rise in the fuel excise also comes into effect on Friday. The two tax increases will raise the price of a litre of 91 octane to about $1.81 from $1.74.’
And this, remember is on top of the 3c a litre tax increase following the introduction of the dishonest Emissions Trading Scam. ‘Phone and power prices have already gone up, the flow-on effect will raise the cost of everything. Yet we have this dishonest headline in another online news source:
The average family will be about $18 a week better off from Friday – but the experts advise not to go and spend it.’
Assuming the $18 figure is accurate–and I very much doubt that–families struggling to cope with the increased costs across the board won’t have much  choice about whether to spend it. It’d be very interesting to see the numbers fleeing across the Tasman to Australia over the past few months. Anecdotal evidence from travel agents and removal companies I’ve talked to seems to indicate that the exodus continues unabated.
No bloody wonder!
