Daniel Greenfield:

‘…Imagine a million people walking in a circle and shouting, “WE’RE SMART AND WE’RE RIGHT. WE’RE RIGHT BECAUSE WE’RE SMART. WE’RE SMART BECAUSE WE’RE RIGHT.” Now imagine that these marching morons dominate academia, the government bureaucracy and the entertainment industry allowing them to spend billions yelling their idiot message until it outshouts everyone else while ignoring the disasters in their wake because they are too smart to fail.

That is liberalism.’
and:
“Intelligence to a modern liberal isn’t depth, it’s appearance. It isn’t even an intellectual quality, but a spiritual quality. Compassionate people who care about others are always “smarter”, no matter how stupid they might be, because they care about the world around them.”

    From the same article:
“Obama and his audience mistake their orgy of mutual flattery for intelligence and depth. Like a trendy restaurant whose patrons know that they have good taste because they patronize it, his supporters know that they are smart because they support a smart man and Obama knows he is smart because so many smart people support him. The thought never rises within this bubble of manufactured intelligence that all of them might really be idiots who have convinced themselves that they are geniuses because they read the right books (or pretend to read them), watch the right movies and shows (or pretend to) and have the right values (or pretend to)..”

“Liberalism isn’t really about making the world a better place. It’s about reassuring the elites that they are good people for wanting to rule over it.”

    DG nails it again!http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_good.gif

  3. KG says:

Sigh….I’d love to be able to do that.

  4. KG says:

O/T, Darin, I tried out my first reloads yesterday. A bit “soft”, but very accurate. I can always crank up the powder…..

    • Darin says:

Good job, what powder did you end up using?

Fixing to build a muzzle brake for my 91/30 Mosin, sucker kicks like a Mule and aiming 8″ low the barrel rise is still grouping 4″ high at 200yards

      • KG says:

ADI’s AR2209. Slow burning. Starting load.
I like muzzle brakes. Other nearby shooters tend not to, though…..
Why does the Mosin kick so much? They’re not a particularly light rifle, after all.

        • Darin says:

The milsurp ammo was optimized in 1930 for use in all Soviet small caliber weapons up to and including their UK59 heavy machinegun. So much of the Milsurplus ammo coming in is all the 1930’s forward spec. It’s loaded hot with true milspec stick powder. At $.20/rd or less it’s a bargin especially since even non-armor piercing ammo will punch 3/8″ steel

I’ve got a 1″ rubber stock pad on the 91/30 since the stocks are short anway, but even with it I can only stand 30 rounds or so before it gets uncomfortable to shoot. Most of the ammo I have is 1970’s production, probably the best they made since WWII.I do have some old brass cased ammo with 182 grain lead that shoots real nice, but I am saving it for hunting.

  5. Pascal says:

Sigh. Yes, so much of what DG writes is more than tremendously insightful. Because there are many of us who think of bits and pieces of it, but give up in despair of nailing it down.

And yet. Andy yet it is only yapping. There are undoubtedly many in the highest levels of the Statist Planning Juggernaut who know what lunkheads they have working for them and they encourage such lemming like drives into inevitable catastrophe for the hoi polloi — and ultimately for themselves too. When the Rome collapsed, the West went into a dark Age. This time it will be global. The real brains behind all this, those behind the original Progs, and the Frankfurt School’s Critical Theory applied — those who cast the shadows on Plato’s allegorical cave wall — they must know this.

No matter how agnostic I remain, I still have a very basic faith that there must be a Higher power Who will permit the destruction to pass over a few of us decent types (even if it is not anyone here) so as to prevent total destruction.

    Posit this.
That these destructive types are stronger believers than the most God fearing.
But unlike the God-fearing, they hate God and by extension, us His creation.
So they believe they can force His hand by attempting to pervert near every living human being in the fashion laid out in Revelation. Every abomination listed there and in the old testament they have sought to normalize. And every decent human trait they have sought to make a mockery of, and to marginalize everyone who attempts to live decently and to help others to do so also.

Why? Why choose this path for those they seek to rule knowing that their own living conditions must concomitantly dwindle even as they live high on the hog today? They seek the very opposite of Progress (indeed, every word they claim they seek to achieve the opposite), and many of us on this site and other like this one already know it.

Ultimately we know that Mr. Greenfield is saying things we wish would govern the counter-Prog offensive that is needed. That is why we so love to hear it. Yet, that leader is not yet in sight. Any who appear who had hoped would serve that purpose keep disappointing (most recently Abbott as I warned the day he won).

The best answer, but one currently beyond my imagination, would be to find some way to reverse the thinking of one or two of those who we only know by the shadows they cast. Get them on the side of real progress and away from these terrible thoughts concomitant with the fear of human population growth.

(Note: sorry for the poorly laid out series of thoughts KG. I’m pretty exhausted due to a number of factors that relate to why I haven’t written much on my own blog all month. But I had to react to this post. I too find Greenfield extraordinarily insightful. Yet, for the reasons I hope were partially addressed by the above, I sense that even such great words are, insofar as effectiveness is needed, all wasted.)

I hope you had a merry Christmas.

    Pascal

  6. KG says:

Thanks Pascal. I hope your Christmas was at least peaceful.
“Yet, for the reasons I hope were partially addressed by the above, I sense that even such great words are, insofar as effectiveness is needed, all wasted.)”
    Concur.
If a strong antidote to the Progs appears, he (or she) won’t be someone true conservatives like or approve of. But such a destructive force will necessarily have to come first in order to smash the “progressives”.
Perhaps a decent alternative to what we have now will eventually emerge from the resulting wreckage.
My personal wish is for anarchy and destruction, not because I think that’ll be at all pleasant, but because then the bricks and rubble could eventually be used to build something decent again. And because I fear slavery more than death.

    • Pascal says:

Wow KG. That Mark Steyn Post you put up after this one contains these lines:

Up north, Ezra and I decided that, if they were going to “de-normalize” us, we’d “de-normalize” them. So we pushed back, and got the entire racket discredited and, eventually, the law repealed.”

You found that after I posted this? Every abomination listed there and in the old testament they have sought to normalize. And every decent human trait they have sought to make a mockery of, and to marginalize everyone who attempts to live decently and to help others to do so also.

I didn’t use the term de-normalize, but it sure fits what the GLAAD apes have tried to force upon us. And, as Levant and Steyn pointed out, they won in Canada. Question: only a temporary setback? Or do we actually have real men who will join the fight consistently before the anarchy comes?

  7. KG says:

“De-normalize” was a brilliant insight. And it worked!

“..do we actually have real men who will join the fight consistently before the anarchy comes?”
I think perhaps the crucial question is whether real men will get the opportunity to fight, Pascal.

    • Pascal says:

“I think perhaps the crucial question is whether real men will get the opportunity to fight.

Yes, that has been the problem all along, hasn’t it?

Their attacks on us are almost never direct attacks. They tend to attack not our strongest, but the weakest among us, or our strong when isolated. Hmmm.

      • Darin says:

I sent KG a link to the movie “Monumental” done by Kirk Cameron on the forefathers where he goes back to England and Holland to investigate the roots of the Plymouth Colony.

In that video he gives the best evidence of why the left wants to destroy the Christian faith in this country and the story ends at this Monument-
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Monument_to_the_Forefathers
Once you see the evidence that this country was most definately founded on Christian principals it all becomes clear why the left wants most to destroy ever tennant of the Christian faith.
