  1. ‘AMERICAN news channel CNN managed to offend all of New Zealand when it listed Auckland as an Australian city during NYE coverage.’
Actually, CNN managed to offend all of Australia. We don’t want the place!

      • I don’t blame you, KG! I think Auckland is a sh*thole too…..

Wellington is much better. Big enough to be interesting (and with a good range of places to eat), but small enough to be “human scale” and not overwhelming.

Funny thing is – when I was over in Sydney in 2002 (visiting my brother who lived there at the time), it never felt as if Sydney was a huge city. That may be because I spent most of my time around Darling Harbour and thereabouts.
Sydney seems to be a good example of a big city that isn’t “dominating” or “soulless” (like Auckland is).

        • Agreed, Thor. I very much regretted that we lived in Auckland instead of Wellington for a few years. Bad mistake.

    • Almost 40C at 7pm! Amazing!

I just couldn’t take that kind of heat. I was over in Canada and the US in 2002 and was in Calgary during their hottest summer in ages. WOW, it was *hot* there! Had to take refuge in my uncle’s basement until the heat of the day had passed. When it had, it was GREAT running alongside the Bow River. You’d see a big freight-train coming along, growling in the distance and rumbling past with a blast on the horn. I had a *great* time! Can’t WAIT to get back to Canada!

      • Gecko loved Canada too, Thor. It never appealed much to me, except perhaps for the bluefin tuna fishing. But even that’s regulated to hell now.

    • Yes, I agree with the locals – driving in remote desert areas in 100 plus degrees Fahrenheit is tantamount to a suicide attempt.

      • We were driving around today in it, checking water troughs etc and I got to wondering what would happen if the Hilux broke down…..a bloody long walk to the nearest road, even further to the nearest house. And this isn’t even true desert country.
But really, it’s no more dangerous than people driving in blizzard (or at least snowy) conditions in rural areas, is it?

          • Takes energy to melt snow. And it’s easy enough to carry plenty of water in the car, so provided one stays with the vehicle it’s no problem. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_cool.gif

            • @KG: You are a bold man :!:

What temperature would you consider not going out during the day :?:

I guess if you’re experienced under those harsh conditions then it’s a calculated risk – but speaking as a greenhorn to the desert, it would be courting death for me to hop in a vehicle for a tourist drive of many miles with the temperature in the range of 122 degrees Fahrenheit – which is what these tourists in the article were doing.

BTW, I understand they rent Range Rovers that I’ve heard have many problems even under good conditions.

          • Ronbo: There’s no upper limit, really. We just drive slower in extreme heat, is all.
Oswald: Great idea. But I can’t afford it right now. Wireless internet is killing us as it is.
Seneca: No solution–the camels around here are too wild and too ugly.

  2. Shock, horror…
“A New Zealander and a Briton have been killed in western Libya, Al Arabiya news channel has reported, citing security sources.”

I wonder if the reporter really meant to say, “a New Zealand passport holder and a British passport holder.”

  3. Let’s see if the English have any heart today. At four to zip they will have to dig deep to hold out a rampant Aus.

    • I doubt it, Mawm. They’ve been thoroughly gutted by what’s far from the best Test team Australia has ever fielded.

      • England have been undisciplined in their bowling and fielding, and really just look unprepared for an important tour.

        • They sure do, and it’s a disappointment. A hopelessly lopsided contest is no fun at all.

    • The femnazis used to worry me in what they were doing to trusting young women, now I just let it slide – people are responsible for getting themselves educated. The truth is available for them to access.

      • Quite so. But they need to be told what the systems and protocols in place are before they can make an informed decision about what to ask for (or demand).
I suspect they’re being fed bullshit in the guise of “medical advice”.

        • Absolutely. It starts with the UN ban on advertising formula milk and goes all the way down the line to failure to monitor midwife led birthing outcomes.

  4. Headline in The Australian:
    ‘.. 4:26PM Rebecca Puddy
EXTREME cyclones, bigger bushfires and hotter weather will continue Australia’s weather bureau has warned…’
    Absolute bullshit.
We had bigger bushfires in the late 1800’s and cyclones HAVE NOT become stronger or more frequent.
The weather bureau (funded largely by the taxpayer) has been captured by warmists and pumps out a constant stream of warmist propaganda.
And WeatherZone, a major online forecasting site which recycles warmist propaganda is owned by Fairfax Media. No wonder it’s a shambles….
Somebody should hold these assholes to account.

  5. What are the chances that key members of DC’s ruling class would have this happen to them?

OBAMACARE: Doctor’s Office Spends 2 Hours On Hold With Insurer For Surgery Authorization, Before Giving Up…

The distinctions as laid down by Angelo Codevilla a few years ago will become all the more contrasted this Happy New Yeah. I suspect it must be in pursuit of evermore elusive sexual kicks that the hoity-toity experience* from knowing that their policies are killing us hoi polloi. I know these people, and any claims they make that their actions are in pursuit of the public good would be laughable were the results not so deadly.

*Even greater kicks than disgraced former prosecutor and governor Elliot Spitzer got from play-strangling his hookers. His actions were mostly fantasy/play while the actions of our ever more brazen Ruling Class cretins are resulting in the real thing.

  6. “THE US Marine Corps has scrapped a key test of physical strength for women recruits after finding that most could not do three pull-ups.”
 Yegods! Wabbit is four or five decades older than these recruits, and he can easily do three pull-ups!
So how fit for the job are they?
