The comments section is interesting, especially this reply to a lefty troll-

“Me thinks it may have been in 1939 in Deutschland with Adolph and his National Socialist Worker’s Party…a.k.a The N.A.Z.I. Party! Or then again, it could have been October of 1917 and Lenin’s Bolshevik Communist Revolution in Russia!

I mean REALLY! There have been SO MANY instances of these land-grabbing, private wealth murdering, Plutocratic, burgling Bolshevik B!tches in recent world history. HOW IS AN INDEPENDENTLY THINKING GIRL TO CHOOSE???”

    • Not here, mate–they’re full of parasites.
Actually, I think I’ve shot my last pig. Since they don’t get eaten, it seems like senseless killing– it’s not as though they do that much damage, after all. And I’ve come to admire their ability to survive in some very tough conditions.
Shooting that fella this morning just left me feeling bad.

        • He sure does. Some of the guys catch them with dogs and put them in pens for a few weeks to get rid of the parasites. But I dislike setting dogs on to a wild animal. (two-legged ones excepted).

          • Some of the guys here trap them, basically a home built trailer made from the rear axle of an front wheel drive car fitted with a cage built out of either stock panels or shipping pallet wood. They rig it up with a drop door set with a trigger.

Cracked corn with a little cattle wormer and about a month or so later BBQ is on.

  2. “…they’re full of parasites.” Sure you are not discussing politics or welfare KG? ;-)

      • Perhaps maori will pay back some of the welfare budget they’ve sucked up for so long? And pay for maori housing and medical care etc?
Fat chance–most of the money will end up in the hands of a few and the rest will continue to hold their hand out for even more taxpayer’s dollars.

  3. I read an interesting item this morning, but now I can’t find it to post, dammit.
Asian countries are overtaking–or have overtaken–Australia and NZ in educational standards. The article pointed out that in Korea, teacher trainees are taken from the top 5% of high school (college) graduates, whereas in Australia teacher trainees at universities comprise those with the lowest academic scores.
The problem with education is teacher quality, not funding and definitely NOT class sizes.
    UPDATE:
    Aha! found the link:

    • “Those that can’t- teach” is the saying here. When the grocery stores stopped having bag boys at the registers and the car market had an over supply of used car salesmen that’s what happened to them, they went into teaching.

      • It’s not a job I’d care for, especially given the lack of discipline among students nowadays. But if people are going to take on the job, they need to be the best available.

    • It really drives home the point that nobody can accurately predict the future.

    • Oh, yes! They’re obviously of white Polish ancestry–you know what troublemakers that lot are.

    • Black particle physics? In what way does that differ from white particle physics is what I wanna know.

  4. Quote of the day comes from Mark Steyn-

“If the government had responded in Benghazi with the same firepower they deployed at the Bundy cattle ranch ambassador Stevens would still be alive today”

  5. A couple from a circus goes to an adoption agency, but the social workers are doubtful about their accommodations.
So they produce photos of their 30 foot long caravan, the back half of which is a beautifully equipped nursery.

The social workers then are doubtful about the education that would be provided.
“We’ve employed a Harvard professor who’ll teach the child all the subjects along with Mandarin and IT skills”.
There are then doubts expressed about the child’s healthy upbringing.
“Our full time nanny is an expert in pediatric welfare and diet” they reply.
So the social workers are finally satisfied, and ask what age of child they were looking for?
“It doesn’t really matter” they say “so long as he fits in the cannon”.
