    Had they been black or muslim, there’d have been no headline. Probably no news item at all.

      Did you ever read “Survive the Savage Sea”. Dougal Robertson thought that instead of drifting all the way to the Marquesas in the south equatorial current, if he headed north to get into the equatorial counter current their chances of survival was greater because of shorter distances to land. His dead reckoning navigation was amazingly accurate, his EP very close to that provided by the Japanese vessel that found them. Just a compass, a scrap of paper and guesstimates of currents and wind.
