‘Church submits’

‘The … Washington National Cathedral will host a Muslim prayer service this Friday. The cathedral, part of the Episcopal Church, has long been the site of important services, including memorial services for presidents, some of whom are buried there. But the Cathedral has never before been used for Muslim services.
…Deep into the Post’s story we learn that among the organizations sponsoring the prayer event are the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
The Post does not mention it, but both ISNA and CAIR are Islamist advocates of sharia law with a history of supporting terrorism…’
Andrew Bolt
Whatever the answer to resisting islamist filth is, the established mainstream Christian churches aren’t part of it.

The liberal Episcopalians are hardly Christian any more so this is not unexpected. The “old” church remains alive and well but is likely to lose its assets to the liberals. Some Episcopalians have formed links with African churches and report to them to create a legal barrier between themselves and the liberals. Its quite ugly. I can’t understand the need in some Christian circles for inter faith dialogue. If you have the only faith that is relevant why compromise by entertaining alternatives on an equal footing?

My own presently conservative church (not Anglican) is worried about gay marriage but has taken some steps to erect barriers where it can by excluding use of its buildings for marriage by other than the two ordained ministers who won’t carry out these services. The conservative churches are fighting back but there is a big debate over property which is in trusts so not technically held by the local church that may have built it.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

That’s why the only option for Conservatives who choose to conduct Christian worship is to eschew the “mainstream” churches. Attend an independent, local church run by people who think and believe as you do, and who don’t answer to some distant hierarchy. The property will still be held in trust, but the trustees will be the deacons of the local church, not the “governing body”.

      • Darin says:

This is all part of a plan hatched in the 60’s for the left to form an “official” state church and religion. The purpose of which is to have a means of controlling the populace at the grassroots level.

This is one more reason and possibly the most important for abolishing or at least reining in the IRS.No more limits on religious speech from the pulpit.

        • Andrew Berwick says:

Anglicanism has been an “official” state religion since 1558. Every Virginia colonist was required to be an Anglican and attend Anglican churches; South Australia and Canterbury were explicitly Anglican colonies…

GG – the biggest problem I have with these independent local churches is that their “elders” demand a tithe from congregants which seems to migrate into their own pockets. OTOH the communist wing of the church (the Anglicans) have lost me forever.

        • The Gantt Guy says:

That hasn’t been my experience, mawm. Not saying it doesn’t happen, just the churches I’ve been involved in have provided a full accounting for the donations they receive.
