I’m tired of writing about muzzies – those who understand the threat already know, and those who don’t never will.
So here’s a Jack Vettriano pic. ‘Bluebird’ at Bonneville. (click for a larger version.)

Wow! I just googled him. His pictures are so cool. I only recognised one of them – the people with umbrellas on the beach. There a few “racy” ones as well! I think I need a few prints.
I’m delighted you like his stuff, Mawm. We have a large print of “Dance me to the end of love” up on our wall. (found in a Salvation Army op-shop. $25)
That is nice. He seems to have many different paintings along similar lines.
The critics hate him. And for me, that’s a strong recommendation.
Yup,show me an art critic and I’ll show you a blind idiot
Please, Mr Bog Admin, any chance of a re-up that awesome old steam powered salt-flat slammer
I recall the post from about 2009( )- I think it was in response to some carbon-fibre wind-tunnel whizz-kidz sqeezing an extra 12mph or something lame out for their new steam world record.
So 103 years later using the latest computer modelling available, state of the art wind tunnels, carbon fibre construction and Formula 1 technology – all they can do is add 12 mph to a record set by a bunch blokes with a welder a bike pump and a set of leather goggles
On the Brit world record holder:
‘This svelte steam powered car was created using salvaged parts (including tea kettles) and is capable of achieving speeds of 170mph! Developed by Edward Montagu and created by a team of graduate students in the University of Southampton, the car will soon attempt to shatter the record for the fastest steam powered vehicle in the world – previously set in 1906.
A mix of contemporary technology and victorian steampunk sensibilities, the vehicle is more than 7.5 meters long and 1.7 meters wide. It has a 13,000rpm two stage engine, and can produce over 360hp. The projected top speed of 170 mph requires the generation of 3 megawatts of heat, which is generated by burning liquid gas. To create the vehicle, the team used steam valves from a power station, a water pump from a fire engine, and the afore mentioned heating elements from tea kettles…’
Just 2km from here. No wonder it was so loud!
Felt quakes:
Intensity: strong
NZDT Mon, Jan 12 2015, 6:12:43 pm
Depth: 13 km
Magnitude: 4.4
Location: Under Wabbit and Gecko’s hideaway.
Glad you and Gecko are OK. Better at 6:12 pm than 3:00 am and wake you up eh?
That’s exactly what Gecko said, Michael. I heard a rumble, but took no notice. The loud bang when it hit was impressive though.
Me to. How is living on a volcano ?
Pretty uneventful, Robert. So far.
When do you anticipate the Islamo boat-people to arrive?
I wish we had quakes up here in Auckland, , because we have alot of assholes who think it is a good idea to build minarets , and cheap multi level state housing to create future ghettos that really need a good old fashioned levelling to the ground so multiculti won’t spread much more.
About 7.5 oughta do it George.
George, neither Mt Roskill nor Kingsland represents a problem too big (or too small) for napalm to solve in a few seconds.
Hahahahaha!

Michael Woodhouse said he had received considerable public feedback the police’s speed tolerance message was confusing.’ http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11385389
“Confusing” my ass – it was stupid and infuriating and not effective, and he knows it.
I could think of several messages to the Police Minister which would not be confusing in the least.
Fine for a day at work, but it’d take all the fun out of sport shooting.
Ahh Frank Vettriano! Thank you KG for creating a few more fans of one of the best artists in modern times. And for reminding a few of us who have not looked at his work in a while. Never saw this Bonneville piece.
Thanks Dallas. I’ve been a fan for a very long time and he still manages to surprise and delight.

Good link, Gregory. Thanks for that.
‘Restorative justice’ a bad joke
‘How unbelievably insulting to presume a victim’s family would wish to rendezvous over tea and biscuits with killers.’
http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/opinion/64886358/gratuitous-restorative-scheme-has-slashed-wheels-of-justice
But it provides a comfortable taxpayer-funded living for lots of self-righteous, preening leeches…
I can see a few relatives using the opportunity to apply their own form of justice. Probably not restorative…
Damn sure I would, Gregory.
In keeping with the general theme of this Open House (the theme being NO MUZZIES), and For something completely different …
Today in 1970, The Band became the first North American group to feature on the cover of Time Magazine
Speaking of art,I have always enjoyed James Dietz’s work-

Beautiful!
Some great stuff there. I notice it’s BMW for the Luftwaffe and MG for the RAF. So just who won the Battle of Britain again.
True…The Brylcreem boys do have a MG.
But the bomber chappies have a Bentley.
Sigh ……Ford 2016 GT unveiled at the Detroit auto show

Hmm….superb. But screw the “Eco-Boost” V6. I’d have it fitted with a neanderthal V8.
