But they did want to fire a shot across the bow of the SS United States to announce a major new player in power politics and this was successful.
After all, the Republican Party created the centralized federal state in 1865 under Lincoln and the Progressive movement in 1901 when Teddy Roosevelt became president.
In truth the Republican elite today as yesterday worship at the altar of Big Government, so its no surprise they hate the 80% of their rank&file Republicans of the Tea Party Movement who are guided by (lower case) true republican values found in the U.S. Constitution.
The time has come for a new political party that actually represents the WILL OF THE PEOPLE.
First a major new major political party.
Then the civil war.

Does New Zealand require a citizen to vote like Australia does?
At least here in the States casting a vote is optional and in some elections upwards of 90% of the potential voters stay at home.

Optional in NZ. In Australia, not compulsory to actually VOTE, just to attend and get your name ruled out – then you can do what you like with the ballot paper.
Ronbo, in N.Z, 18 year olds and older are required to register to vote, but actual voting is optional.

Voting – like serving in the military – should be voluntary.
Makes no difference either way – it’s still pointless.
The universal franchise and the media will ensure it stays that way.
