Oh, the humanity!

‘Let’s forget about starving artist for a moment and get right to a more accurate, and ominous, conjugation: The artist in America is being starved, systemically and without shame.
…with our consummate lack of reverence, we in America kill our poets in quite another way: We ignore them to death…’

The New Republic? That Leftist rag :!: I thought they went out of business :?:

  2. KG says:

I love poetry, but the shit produced by taxpayer-funded “artists” comes nowhere near meeting that description.

  3. Cadwallader says:

I recall the New Republic as the temporary home of that chap Glass who was sacked for making up stories about 20 years ago, on the strength of this he would be entitled to get his job back.

  4. MacDoctor says:

Thank for the link KG, but what a load of tosh! Creativity thrives in adversity. For decades we have coddled artists and the result is predictable and obvious. Giant penis-shaped clouds, maudlin poetry, talentless music, and fifty shades of bloody grey!

Is it any wonder that this utter drivel is roundly ignored by anyone with more than two brain cells?

Life is pretty hard. Perhaps if our artists experience some of it, we may get some creative work that might have some worth.

      Yes!

Kg, KG, KG…you will lose IQ points reading that crap

Starting with Warhol, who I consider to be a talentless hack, his appeal was mostly to urban hipsters,LSD addicts and celebs who bought his work because it was deemed “hip”.So much of what the left terms “art” is pure s— and ordinary people reject it.The reason art is supposedly shrivelling on the vine in America is because we vote with our wallets and our feet, produce crap at your own risk.I read enough of it to get pissed off. This is so typical of the left, they were the ones who destroyed art and now they are pissing and moaning about it.

The comments the author made about university faculty working for slave wages is hysterically funny. Most of the tenured faculty and board of regents set salary and compensation, not the taxpayers and most universities are sitting on huge cash endowments left to them by private benefactors.Whining about faculty salary and funding for education is an industry unto itself and every year the cost of an “education” goes up because the universities know they can milk the taxpayer tit via the student loan program.

Given the results we are seeing-Bush-Yale,Clinton-Harvard,Bush-Yale,Obama-Harvard ,I would say America would be better off if we burned our centers of “higher learning” to the ground and salted the Earth where they stood.

And so called “art critics”,the term has become a perverted joke

Here in Australia we’ve got a generation of students who took the easiest course of higher education they could find.

        Art.

The bachelor of arts (B.A.) has thus been nicknamed the “bachelor of attendance”.

So, with a bunch of university educated fuckwits crying poor and threatening to expose the myth of “higher education equals success” what did the government do?

What it always does. It started giving away other people’s money. Now our local park has a $30,000 piece of twisted sheet metal stuck in some cement which looks at a distant glance like a tiny public toilet.

An homage, the plaque reads, to the veterans of world war two. Of course, it’s so fucking abstract that the plaque also has to explain the artistic vision to us dumb luddites who are incapable of appreciating it without an education.

Within 100 yards our town has three such pieces of “art”. Total cost to the taxpayer, $150,000.

New government building must, by law, devote a portion of their budget to pay exorbitant fees to *cough* artists for the shit they turn out.

Need an extra hospital bed in that new ward?

Tough shit. You’re getting a painting that looks like it was turned out by a retard.

Same here, well it would be wouldn’t it,same mindset, part of the global prog cabal.

Our town a few years ago decided our old town needed “revitalizing”(read, con the property owners into improving their property so the city can up their appraisal and by extension taxes)

Two things they had on the list were new steel trash can surrounds and a covered pavillion over our old steam loco that’s on display. Both were projects that could have easily been done by local fabrication shops including the one I work for,but we the people who live, work and pay taxes in the town were never allowed to even bid on the contracts. All of it was done by out of state firms, trucked in and installed by out of town labor.
