Headline in the NZ Herald this morning:
‘Should NZ apologise for Gallipoli?
On the centenary of the conflict, should NZ apologise for its part in an invasion that claimed 86,000 Ottoman Empire lives – almost twice the number of Allied soldiers..’
By all means. Right after Turkey acknowledges and apologises for the
Armenian genocide.
The idea of people apologising for the actions of their ancestors is an absurdity, an absurdity assiduously promoted by leftists for obvious reasons.
Usual Leftard/Islamo-Fascist bollocks. Those that have the intellectual capacity to ignore it will. Those that don’t, or at least until they feel the sometimes blunt edge of a Muslim blade upon their throats, will not. Tough shit on them and as much as I would like to see them gurgling their gutless lives away screaming “Why, why, why?” I simply will not have the time – or the interest, for that matter. That is all.
But, but, but, apologies make lefties “feel” better about history. By apologising as people who weren’t alive at the time and committed no wrong, to people who weren’t alive at the time and suffered no harm, the left can “feel” better about the history they are uncomfortable with. It is always about their feelings.
Exhibit A: Treaty of Waitangi apologies and settlements.
Damn right, Paul.
It’s all nothing more than adolescent posturing.
Both of the ANZAC nations ought apologise to their fallen dead for evolving into socialism in the past 100 years!
Too right!
“The idea of people apologising for the actions of their ancestors is an absurdity”
That would be like New Zealanders apologising for colonising these South Sea islands not so many years before Gallopoli. Stopping the then inhabitants from murdering and cannibalising each other whilst bringing law and order to these fair isles.
Apologise for the actions of our ancestors? Now, we wouldn’t do that would we? /sarc
What other nation is as generous as Turkey to allow the descendants of a foreign invader, and invader who was soundly defeated and repelled, to return annually to celebrate their invasion?
What other nations are so generous as to turn a blind eye to the genocide committed by their hosts?
I’m curious to know how many $s change hands throughout the process.
Cue the footage of that pathetic little muppet Kevin Rudd saying “sorry” to the aboriginals of Australia, or their dead ancestors, or… whatever.
The whole schtick of the left is predicated on the original sins of the West . . . and of course the white patriarchy that built the West. Since it’s original sin, it must be acknowledged as permanent and beyond absolution except by national suicide. That’s the end goal.
Guys, this is the *NZ Herald*.
Jeez.
One day soon the Left will run out of events to apologise for, and will have to
face realityinvent some more or rehash the previous apologies.I read recently that the Turks have two views on the Armenian genocide:
1. It never happened, and
2. They’re glad it did.
Probably much the same way as their religion faces both ways on just about everything, choose whichever face suits the moment.
This excellent article is worth the read – especially those Crusaders who need some good news – Leftism may have peaked in the West:

It is always darkest before the dawn…
I’d prefer the “kinetic option” to seeing it simply fade away, Ronbo.
And drive a stake through the bastard’s heart.
…the Left has reached such a high degree of saturation that they have nowhere to go but down.
How quickly we forget.
…without the ability to use actual force to suppress dissenters, the Left cannot go any farther.
And what, my dear normalcy-biased, historically-ignorant friend, makes you think they wont?
That question being asked of the article’s author, and not Mr Ronbo…
To the victors the spoils. Turkey was an aggressor along with Germany and lost Palestine and parts of the Arabian peninsula as punishment.
