Memorial Day

2015-05-24
MARGRATEN, Netherlands — They haven’t forgotten. For 70 years, the Dutch have come to a verdant U.S. cemetery outside this small village to care for the graves of Americans killed in World War II. On Sunday, they came again, bearing Memorial Day bouquets for men and women they never knew, but whose 8,300 headstones the people of the Netherlands have adopted as their own. For the American relatives of the fallen, it was an outpouring of gratitude almost as stunning as the rows of white marble crosses and Jewish Stars of David at the Netherlands American Cemetery…’

And never forget, our American friends, how many of us love and admire you for the sacrifices you made.

May God not forgive those who have all but pissed away what those men bought.

      • Darin says:

It’s infuriating, these useless husks, these empty paper characters of men should be allowed to piss away what our best and brightest bled and gave their last breath for.I should hope that there is a special place in hell for the spineless weasels when their day comes

Dvorak’s music is perfect for that clip – “going home”.

I’d have long since sold my .303
The .308 holds more energy longer.
    The .223 is more efficient.

I keep it anyway, so I can pick it up and feel the heft of it. So I can feel that heft of responsibility, and hope that when my time comes I can measure up to the same standard.

“..and hope that when my time comes I can measure up to the same standard.”
      You will, Wombat. You will.
The warrior is still alive in you, and men like you. I had the same doubts, and then some. But when it goes down, everything kind of falls into place. I don’t know how else to explain it.
An inheritance of thousands of years doesn’t just disappear.

The Leftist LA TIMES is worried today about the anger of the American Armed Forces, which is isolated on big bases and marches to a patriot drummer.

    They should be.

There is no separation in my community between the military and civilians.Too many civilians are veterans for that to happen and any US or allied service personnel are welcome in our homes and places of worship.

Things are obviously different in that leftist dog pile called Los Angeles

Would the Americans killed in World War II still recognize their country ?

So on the evening before Memorial Day I visit WalMart. I wait at the checkout line surrounded by two families of legal illegals speaking nothing but Spanish. Mestizos less than 5 feet tall with 4 kids. A pure insult to me and any other American. Then next morning on Memorial Day I grab grub at a Waffle House. 7 customers incl. 4 women speaking Spanish incessantly. I told my waitress that on this day we honor the deaths of a million military people who died in wars from the Revolution forward and did they die so we could hear shitty jibberish while eating in my own country. Fuck.
