I’d love to see the same poll question in NZ!

‘…During his talk for Sydney’s Vivid Festival on Monday night, Brule warned that to an outsider, Australia was rapidly becoming a country where you have to pick up a “hard-hat and hi-vis vest” along with your visa before entering the country.’
77% of respondents agreed with him.

Road cones for Africa , high viz vests on kids going to school, and on the playground , a bunch of dickheads wearing hardhats out in the open paddocks (with fm radio earmuffs) , muther fuxer’s double triple cheese burger steel cappped boots with high viz socks , 10 ton trucks with 10,000 candle power flashing lights during the day with 4 lazy bludging oafs sitting in the back cab laughing all the way to the bank on who’s dime?
Yip , gotta build those effing bridges and stupid overpriced roads paid for by our lovely communist friends , and safety driven crap to push the price up of everything . Rant/o

    • KG says:

Sigh…I know what you mean, George. Add morons in hi-viz vests walking the dog on the footpath to that.

    • PC says:

The UK is worse, the hi-viz clad grey-ones wield clipboards as standard issue. The height of obserdity observed was a train ticket booth worker resplendent in hi-viz. No doubt that made him immune to paper cuts.

  2. Wombat says:

It’s been described accurately as the new uniform for conformity.

If you have any doubt, consider that the fine for failing to wear a high vis vest on a work site that is otherwise unoccupied is an order of magnitude higher than the fine you’d get for doing 150 kph down the highway with no lights on in the dead of night.

    • Warren Tooley says:

Fines fund the police. Its not about safety, its about revenue generating.

  3. nominto says:

did anyone hear the story about the truck driver who reversed over[or hit] a port worker – the worker was wearing orange hi-viz and the driver mistook him for a road cone!!
apparently a true story – they now wear “yellow” hi-viz gear.

      • Ronbo says:

        Speaking of which….

In regards to my most recent adventure in literature, “The Study of Revenge” – Once again it’s PURE FICTION that plays off today’s headlines. Thus I have been and will be using real people – like Obama, Hillary Clinton and other well known public figures to use in my fictional drama.

After all, the Left used George W. Bush in several fictional books, plays and movies to include one where he was assassinated….So turnabout is fair play – I will use real live Leftists to score my points.

In regards to American underground movements like my fictional “White Rose” and “Red Rose” – I have no insider knowledge of what is going on beneath the surface in patriot America – but there are indications something BIG is going on just below the water line, as strange motions are seen on the surface.

Thus the writer writes and the dreamer dreams… http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_mail.gif

Ok so Ronbo, the book is called revenge. Is it about people taking revenge on those on the left, is it about people fighting back? When it is called revenge, in what way is that being referred to?

          • Ronbo says:

Yes, mostly it’s about Rightist people who have been fucked over one way or another by individual Leftists, or the Leftist dominated federal government – and know that redress by legal means is impossible.

Indeed, they want paybacks…REVENGE…and the Obama Regime’s efforts to bring anarchy to the streets will play right into the hands of the rebels.

They will see this as the drawing of First Blood and the de facto declaration of war on the American People by their own government.

…and if it is WAR – then all possible reactions are on the table to include assassinations, sabotage, bombing and other acts of terrorism against the lawless Regime.

Here in Great Britain (sorry PC), shoplifters have learned to wear hi-vis vests and hard hats because that makes them look like workers. It’s fuzzing laughable to see the coaches dropping off scousers dressed like bread winners. The posh emporiums of Chesterfield and York are routinely raped (sorry, no trigger warning) by these travelling bands of thieves. As Tebitt said, on yer bike, the travellers travel when there are rich pickings.

  5. Pix says:

I heard a good story the other day. A truck had picked up a load of conventional hay bales and the driver was standing on top of the bales unloading them at the depot. A worksafe employee turned up and told him he would let him off this time but in future he had better erect scaffolding around the truck or be prosecuted. Imagine the cost of the bales after including scaffolding at each loading…….

    • KG says:

The “worksafe” leeches need taking around the nearest corner and having the crap beaten out of them. Or their cars and homes vandalised.
I see no difference between these assholes and the petty apparatchiks who made the Russian people’s lives a misery during the Soviet era.

      • Warren Tooley says:

Aw but their is, the difference is these jerks are doing it progressively, if they did it in one go, they’d be attacked.

        • KG says:

Exactly, Warren. It’s the boiling frog technique.

          • Wombat says:

Recall the farmer fined many thousands of dollars for having his quad bike helmets hanging on the wall behind the quads rather than on the quads themselves?

Consider how Joe Farmworker is going to react one day when his boss tells him “sorry, I can’t afford to keep you on under the burden of these worksafe fines.”

Imagine a whole gang of Joes after a local farm goes under.

Repercussions are no longer out of the question.

            • KG says:

“Repercussions are no longer out of the question.”
              I sure hope you’re right.

              • nominto says:

or what about the case of Wanksafe taking a prosecution against WINZ over the shootings at the Ashburton branch – “not providing a safe workplace”….WTF!!?
