Wouldn’t that be something, Contempt? What a beautiful place.
Stayed in Praiano (not Casa Angelina though) 2 years ago. What a fabulous coast line. Net trip to Italy we’ll do the Cinque Terre walk. It helps having a translator or two with me.
Fascinating history, too. I’ll never see it, but dreaming’s cheap.
That’s some serious maritime-porn, KG. Really, really pretty boats.
I reckon the Lowells built some of the most beautiful boats ever, Gantt. No frills, just practical elegance.
First serious wooden boat I built was a Chamberlain dory, from that part of Maine. It was a fine, seaworthy, good-looking boat.
A bastard to build, though. http://www.luckhardt.com/dory1.html
Where did you find trees that curve like that, to make the hull?
The boat and workmanship in that article are pretty rough, but it at least shows what a lovely boat the Chamberlain is.
Have you seen the row boat that Des Townson designed and built as on of his last projects? Flowing curves of beauty!
That Meranti marine ply brings back memories. There was a Stevedore and salvage company in New Orleans we used to buy lumber and plywood from, they had shipping damaged marine and cabinet ply by the boxcar loads at times and sold it cheap. We could get 3/4″ Mahogany lumber core cabinet ply for $18/sheet and Meranti 3/4&7/8″ 37 ply marine for $25/sheet.
The only damage was scrapes and dents on one edge.Send it through the table saw knocking about 1″ off the edge and it was perfect.
“We could get 3/4″ Mahogany lumber core cabinet ply for $18” Yegods! That’d be at least $180 a sheet here!
I just love it when the Revolution eats its own children!
BTW, Crusaders – this is another, “I told you so!” – and it was easy to figure out….We have a dictator in elected office and people only get prosecuted in order to take them out.
If the Hildabeast is smart she will drop out of the race before the cuffs are put on!
And what’s wrong with Lake Kaniere on the Wet Coast?
500 mils of rain in 30 hours is a wonder to behold!!
I like my rain tropical, thanks, Wratty. And once saw 90mm an hour during the wet season in Queensland.
At least it was warm, with a fantastic lightning display.
In the theme(heh)of the previous post regarding ballet, I suggest:

flower berm would not approve, and that’s good.
VERY nice!
KG, will meet you there.

Where is it? Looks bloody cold!
Patagonia, more Sheep and Alpacas than people.
“more sheep and alpacas than people”
pfft. We got that right here in little ol’ New Zealand.
I’ve had my full of warm,40+ years of pouring sweat out my boots is enough.
I like New Zealand really I do,but like here it has been contaminated with communists.
Here’s the other dream destination – for the boatbuilding.

It’s official – Obama wants Biden to be the heir apparent and not the dread Hildabeast:
