Because socialism can work, will work, does work, it’s just never been done right … or enough.
No, I believe they want the Soviet style socialism, they just realised that they would have to come at it globally so there were no examples of prosperous capitalism for the downtrodden communists to be shielded from.
Any appearance of deviation from that global gulag they’re planning is simply good PR at work.
