  1. If things go genuinely pear shaped then boat-building will be the kind of skill that gets you permanent employment by whatever local government springs to life.

Assuming of course you’re not stuck in the Gobi Desert or similar. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_good.gif

  2. I have one of those Stanley #60 Block planes with the hand pommel nearly worn through from use. Many good memories from that one.

The one picture in that series that just grates my nerves is the pile of Stanley/Bailey iron body planes.Pile them up like junk and they will work just like junkhttp://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_sad.gif

    • Yeah I found that very strange indeed. 8O My planes and spokeshaves are treated more carefully than any other tools.

      • It’s all about maintaining cutting edges,I can see having a couple old beater planes laying around for roughing down items that might have buried obstructions, nails and such, but any tool meant to shape and trim should be razor sharp and in trim.

From a time when the name Stanley meant New Britain,Connecticut or Sheffield,England
