thank you for the Samuel Adams’ quote- it is one of the few that I had never seen–
We in the US had better start following our Founder’s ideals and knowledge of HIStory – or we are going to be like the EU —

If ever there was a case of the pot calling the kettle black. The mask is officially off,the fascists are at the controls.Time to storm the building, shoot the bastards and burn the MF down !

Darin. This was possible in the days when it was popularly believed that people had power and so they used it accordingly. You, me and everyone else here on this blog can vent all we like but I know that in the event of insurrection the government totally controls police response to it and will bring us down. To observe that Police morale is rock bottom is not a bit surprising. You will die in the gunfight but the Media will not observe it or they will distort it. Now what?

Guerrilla warfare! The Boers, the Spanish, Tito’s partisans and the Irish have shown the way. It’ll be another 100 year war in Europe.

      • KG says:

Yes indeed. There are lots of ways to bring things to a grinding halt without taking any excessive risks.
The idea of gunfire in the streets being the way to go is a juvenile fantasy.

        • Darin says:

Mara, consider this, how many police are in your town?If you add up all the cops, the special teams etc the number will be well less than 1% of the population. If you throw in the military and the entire bureaucracy the best any nation can muster even in time of war is 10% of the population. That is the physical, sustainable limit of the nation’s ability to supply the effort. The people always outnumber the government, always. We are only in check because most citizens are basically moral and law abiding, but we do have a breaking point. This is the basis for asymmetric warfare.

The power they have is what WE give them, and this is true of every country in the world including China.North Korea is the only example I can think of where the number might be higher, but that is a special case where an entire population has been brainwashed for decades, the number is greater than 10% and the effects show it.

In the American Revolution one of our most effective weapons against the British were the Frontiersmen farmers and trappers. They couldn’t stand toe to toe on the battlefield with the British army, but they could have an effect from the tree line on the officer’s morale.

It was said Gen. Corwallis only survived the war because he observed the battle field from 500 yards distance.

The Ceaușescus and their police state thought they were untouchable.

The moment you run out of money a dictatorial institution has few friends. And it looks like the EU and the US are on the brink of economic collapse.

        • Robertv says:

You can’t control people that have nothing to lose.

  4. mara says:

    Explain please KG’

    • KG says:

Well, Mara, who controls the power and water supplies? Transportation and sewage? The supplies to supermarkets and service stations?
And that’s just a few crucial nodes, without which society would become chaotic, anarchic.
Attack those nodes and government would be forced to the negotiating table and – given a coherent, achievable list of demands – the government of the day would have to bend to them.
Nothing meaningful will be achieved via the ballot box because the ballot box is a tool the government controls and to accept it is to attempt to fight a battle on the enemy’s terms. A tactic which guarantees defeat, of course. Look around you and again and again you see the popular will ignored, derided, subjected to relentless propaganda.
Taking to the streets armed is to fall into a trap that’s been years in the making and would be a gift to the totalitarians. They’d enslave us for generations.
And make no mistake – the quislings, the police and the armed forces would do the bidding of their masters. There are plenty amongst us who would don the armband and the clipboard and herd us into cattle cars. Whether out of cowardice or stupidity or self-interest doesn’t matter, they will do it.
To deny that is to deny the lessons of history. There’s no special Kiwi or Aussie gene that renders us immune to evil.

Once again the sage words of President John F. Kennedy, “Those who make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable.”
