    The totalitarian left is always with us, and getting more powerful all the time. Every gun grabbing yahoo on Facebook will unfriend and block anyone who disagrees with them on gun control, no matter how polite and unemotionally logical you are. When all you have are slogans and screaming then the next step is thugs beating up the opposition followed by thugs in uniform beating and killing the opposition. We’re two steps from fascism right now.

    Of course, the real question is not why you would want to stifle debate at a university, but why you would want to run a course based on a premise that is demonstrably false. Sadly, there are many examples of courses with the intellectual equivalence of a flat earth society meeting. Pretty much all of Woman’s studies and Maori studies comes immediately to mind. But there others – even in the “hard” sciences.

    In my lifetime, the American university system has degenerated from the best educational model in the world, where all issues were subject to vigorous , to the most reactionary, ignorant and just plain stupid educational system in history.
