      Probably a couple days,they were usually milled out of solid steel billet rather than forged,so everything not a Conrod had to be removed from a solid block.And of course it’s not the machining itself that adds up,it’s the setup time.

      Reminds me of the repairs my younger brother made to my stuff after he always broke it doing something stupid with it…I wanted dad to dock him his allowance and give it to me so I could buy new stuff for replacement, but that never happened….Years later when I was in the Army and stationed in Augsburg, Germany when brother flew the Atlantic to visit me. He borrowed my six month old BMW sedan for a few hours – and wrecked it when he lost control going down hill on a curvy road too fast, however, this time he didn’t attempt repairs because he totaled it.

      Winston lost me when he touted raising the minimum wage by a significant amount. It was an out and out bribe of Clarkian proportions to get a certain sector to vote for him despite all studies showing that raising the minimum wage decreases employment and results in small businesses closing down. It also showed his socialist tendencies and disregard for the free market.

      This election is about keeping the little marxist tart out of power and stopping her CGT, donations tax, death duties and raising the top tax rates and probably GST as well.         I see Ardern still hasn’t laid out a clear tax policy and of course she has no need to, since hero-worshipping little tarts will vote for her regardless. She’s promising lots of “free” stuff and that’s enough for a whole lot of people. They have no idea of what will pay for it and they don’t care anyway.
        As for the Nats…..they’re captives of the business lobbies such as “education” for foreign students and propping up the real estate leeches at the expense of Kiwis. The necessary infrastructure will be paid for by the victims of their policies, not the assholes profiting hugely from them.
        Think Venezuela with a veneer of self-righteousness….
        All that voting for the hoped “least worst” gets us is more of the same with a smiley face and a different brand of bullshit.

      Grandad on pop’s side was working on the farm and tending his own yard right up till a couple days before he passed at age 96 and even then we think he really died of loneliness after losing Grandmother a few months before.I can only hope to make it that far.
