    I like to play cribbage and on Tuesday nights there is a small group of us old folks who get together to do just that. However, tonight one of the ladies (not the brightest I will admit) decided to say something about Trump and his COVID 19 treatment. She was offended that Trump got top class medical treatment. I pointed out that he is the POTUS and anyone as President would get the same. In her opinion the doctors that treated him should be chastised because he should have been allowed to suffer without treatment. I asked her “Why?” she said because she doesn’t like Trump. I asked her if that’s how she reacts to everyone she doesn’t like. When she said “No”, I told her I thought that her attitude toward Trump was terrible and had to force myself to not really go on about her lack of charity.

    I know there are a lot of NZ’ers who don’t like the USA and hate Trump and I have seen the horrible things the Left in the US has said about his diagnosis but I was amazed that someone in this far flung corner could wish evil on someone that has little or no effect on their lives.       It’s the global media cesspool. I read NZ news sites on occasion, everything I read there about US and global politics are the same regurgitated stories from the likes of the NYT, Wapo and Huffpost, which isn’t even a legitimate news outlet. I imagine TV news is much the same, regurgitated swill from CNN.

      If what a person knows has been told to them by that lot, then that person won’t know much and what they do know is of little if any value. You would have had a more intelligent conversation with an actual Sheep.

        Long ago I learned the hard way that the most correct — and safest — response to the question “have you heard _____?” is “Well, I’ve heard that, but I don’t know. Do you?”

        I find it much more informative as to who likes to spread rumors and who is more reluctant and who is truly informed. There are too many of the first, too few of the last.

      Michael, I have a good friend in the US who is a marxist and does not deny it. He gleefully sent out an email about how badly Trump did in the debate and how Fox News was all hysterical about it. In it he had a string of adjectives telling us how awful the racist Trump is. I have challenged him and asked him to provide any evidence that he is so. Crickets! This has also generated a nasty email from his niece, one of the recipients, in which she accused Trump of being a mass murderer as well as a racist amongst other things. I demolished her argument about him being a mass murderer and have asked her for evidence of his being a racist. Crickets! I have also received a bitchy little email from someone else asking me to delete his name from my email list. Bwaahaha!
