      • Near, never worked for Nasa, but have worked for other companies and organizations at Stennis. Rolls Royce Aerospace was one, Naval Oceanographic is another, as a contractor.

Here’s an article about RR’s engine test stand. There are more than a few parts of that stand that I built and a few large components that were built elsewhere that I was hired to re-work.

The pay is good, but I don’t like working out there. The pace is a bit slow with lot’s of paperwork and regulations impeding progress even on the simplest, most benign tasks.

          • In the extreme at times. One job had myself and another welding a stainless steel FOD screen together from stainless wire cloth. About 18,000 welds joining stainless wire a little less than the diameter of a pencil lead.
We were TIG welding in the middle of a bare concrete slab about 5 acres square. Low amperage, no sparks, nothing. But each day we had to dash out to the site and apply for a hot work permit (first come, first serve basis). Application went in about 6:30 AM and usually the permit would arrive to the job about 10:00. We also had to have a third man onsite for a fire watch

    • I long for the days when petty twerps like Chrissie Hahn, would be settled by pistols at twenty paces http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_cool.gif
