    I dropped by the Nelson Saturday market this morning and spoke with a member of Rachel Boyack’s (Nelson MP) staff and broached the question of when does a child’s life become valuable. I noted that one of the PSA ads for the ‘Road to Zero’ policy showed a family on a trip stopping at a toll booth where the cost was their young child. I pointed out the ad indicated the child had value and I asked at what age a child’s life accrued value

    The woman I engaged with immediately said, “I know where this is going” and became defensive. In the discussion the development of the baby at 20 weeks became an issue. This is the age at which some additional medical consultation is required prior to approving an abortion. The relevant section of the policy is as follows:

    “Abortion post 20 weeks

    (1) A qualified health practitioner may only provide abortion services to a woman who is more than 20 weeks pregnant if the health practitioner reasonably believes that the abortion is clinically appropriate in the circumstances.
    (2) In considering whether the abortion is clinically appropriate in the circumstances, the qualified health practitioner must—
    (a) consult at least 1 other qualified health practitioner; and
    (b) have regard to—
    (i) all relevant legal, professional, and ethical standards to which the qualified health practitioner is subject; and
    (ii) the woman’s—
    (A) physical health; and
    (B) mental health; and
    (C) overall well-being; and
    (iii) the gestational age of the fetus.
    (3) Subsection (2) does not apply in a medical emergency.”

    When I pushed the question of why is there a change from 19 weeks and 6 days to 20 weeks. I was told I was making her uncomfortable. This lasted about 5 minutes when Ms Boyack arrived and immediately invoked Health & Safety and insisted I leave. When I pointed out that she and her staff should be able and willing to defend Government policy she began trying to contact security to have me removed. I pointed out to her that I had not threatened anyone, I just wanted answers to my questions.

    In the end I left before security arrived.

    I have since checked the official reports on abortions in NZ (excuse me…Aotearoa). The Ministry of Health does not issue abortion data on reasons for the procedure.

    BTW I also mentioned that an abortion could be approved if the child was found to have a genetic abnormality or physical deformity which was strongly refuted by the people I was talking to. That is patently false because genetic abnormalities can be detected before 20 weeks when there are no restrictions.

      Arguing abortion with them is pointless, people doing evil will never see it, because the evil suits them just fine. It’s like trying to argue the point with the female guards at Auschwitz.

      I had to google it, but the “Road to Zero” propaganda is still going strong I see. I looked up the stats same as I did back when KG first made mention of it maybe 8 or 9 years ago. The deaths per capital haven’t budged an inch and are still laughable.

        The propaganda isn’t even in line with the actual policy which seeks a percentage reduction in mortalities. As for the actual mortality rates, the speed limits are lower on the highways than in the US.

          I would bet what they are really after are fewer vehicles, like zero vehicles. That was a big part of Agenda 21, basically moving everyone out of rural areas to townships and cities connected by mass transit. They want to make private vehicle ownership very expensive.

            I remember watching a few smartphone videos of Agenda21 meetings. All were at UC Santa Cruz. The participants all behaved like drones out of The Invasion of Body Snatchers when any audience member spoke out against one or another of the presented intentions.

            For me it is quite a good explanation for why we can’t get a human-like response to downside consequences of any of the most recent bad activities. The uniform gaslighting started back then.

            I suspect that Agenda21 participants were chosen by testing to lack any sense of human decency. And now they’ve turned up in high positions around the world. Sold their souls for power.

    Annoying isn’t it? The infantile approach these leftist have to women and ‘it’s my body’ with their solipsistic attitudes. There is no argument as to when life begins, the rest is semantics.

    In reality the doctors who are happy to perform abortions are only concerned about adverse outcomes with second trimester procedures, not the morality. Essentially any woman in NZ can get an abortion when she wants. The few politicians who actually think about it try to hide behind the mantra churned out by the left.

    The MoH is not responsible for the abortions; it falls under the Department of Justice.

      Get ready, this sort of thing will only get worse. Here now so many people are stealing and getting away with it, that the new excuse from the authorities here in the states is they don’t have any place to put them all.

      The rampant uptick in crime we are seeing isn’t by accident either, it’s by design. The powers that be want mayhem on the streets, they want out of control bad behavior. They want the general public softened up to accept the new system.

      With my two teenage children, I got in the habit of fast forwarding any ridiculous sex scenes. I must say ALL movies were improved by my editing, and I continue to do so to this day. Porn is being used as a weapon to attack our minds, and distract us from the real issues. The real issues are not very extensive, but it is easy to poison any fightback with porn being broadcast in its many guises. Just turn it off. My kids still do so too. Hoping they carry the habit through their lives.
