      The waters around NZ and the South Pacific islands are treacherous but Captain Cook in a wooden sailing ship, using lead lines and chains dragged between longboats, charted much of the area and somehow managed without sinking his ship. Some of the areas he surveyed are still used in official NZ marine charts.

    • The “official” number so far is 312, but I bet that is low. There are reports that two small towns of approximately 4-500 people were completely wiped out by the flash flood. Surveillance camera footage from towns down stream from Lake Lure show the water level in the river going from just about normal to +25 feet in a matter of a few minutes. No telling how many people were swept away before they had a chance to escape.

  8. Kamala Harris was obviously worse during her interviews this last week than previously. I’m sure the Dem pundits will pass it off as her being more relaxed and open and relatable. The truth is far more likely to be that she really is that dumb. She doesn’t learn from past mistakes/bad decisions and would struggle to teach kindergarten subject matter.

    • Get this Twitter thread in front of the eyes of any “I don’t believe you” people you know. Their memories soaked in CNN propaganda can’t be all forgotten. If they are unwilling to absorb all the stark contradictions, hypocrisy, and creepy connections of Wen presented, the showing will wear down their distrust at least subconsciously.

    Looking at the photos, my first reaction was ‘That’s not a proper range to start with’. The targets are set up at the edge of a gully (no proper backstop) and they’re not even safe targets (tin cans at 15 feet). It’s no wonder someone got injured. Other critics mention the nearness of the targets and ridicule the candidate for using a scope at that distance but, for me, the whole setup is designed to get someone hurt.
