Heartless? Maybe. But expecting other people to work in order to support them, expecting Australians to pay for people who don’t give a fuck about Australian values, expecting to be welcomed into a country where their kind are already causing social tensions and violence ain’t exactly big-hearted either. Most of these people aren’t “asylum seekers” at all and it’s time the media stopped using the term as a default description. They’re illegal immigrants. Asylum seekers don’t form gangs and terrorise the hosts. Asylum seekers don’t preach hatred for the host culture and cheer when one of their kind murders the hosts. And above all, asylum seekers are prepared to work and contribute, they don’t expect the hosts to be slaves to them.
