Hey people! Welcome back to Southern’s Serenade!

You ain’t got nothing to do if you reading this blog and you might want to hear some good stuff from the United States maybe?, right? So let’s do some music videos. It’s what I do when I get very bored. Let’s go:

This post, we are going to take it back to a few hits that meant a lot to me back in the 1960’s when I was a mere babe in arms, a simple teen child of America. Most of these songs were recorded and became big hits between 1964-1968. Back then and into the early “70’s, I went to clubs and would see black bands doing stage routines same as some here. I would go to arenas and see the actual bands and dig every minute of the experience. I shagged with girls to these songs [google “shag dance.” I am not trying to get anyone in bad trouble, if you know what I mean]. The crowd would be white, the bands black. That is the way it was. A much different age. Loved every damn minute of it! I do believe the bands did too.”Stay” a ’60’s million seller from a South Carolina group. Southern shagged to this classic so many times and it is the shortest million seller in rock history. But it sure is good! HERE

“Duke of Earle” As I walk through this world nothing can stop the Duke of Earle. Can anyone stop history? Time? What and where are we exactly in the history of the world? We live in the greatest nations ever. The United States. United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada.  HERE

“In the Still of the Night” speaks for itself, don’t y’all think? Seen some great black groups doing routines like this from the “60’s. Some of them were in small clubs.  HERE

“My Girl” Lord knows I have shagged danced to this song a hundred times for sure. So dig it.

Wilson Pickett “in the Midnight Hour” no explanation necessary.

Got to wrap this evening of my serenade with this: James Brown, “Please, Please, Please.” James was a native of South Carolina and Georgia, states of the Southern United States. I went to his funeral just over the Savannah River in Augusta a few years ago but the auditorium was packed and could not get in. I was about the only white guy there.  Loved James and his music totally.

Gotta sign off the airwaves of the Internet now. Thanks KG. Y’all hang in there and we’ll see ya next time whatever type pf music that may be about. If you feel the need to comment, please, please, please get on with it! Look for something different next time. See ya.

Love ya baby, Southern
