‘Bin Laden effigy deemed ‘offensive’

‘…During the EDL counter-protest at the US Embassy (where the poppy-burning ‘Muslims Against Crusades’ were mourning the death of the world’s most notorious terrorist), an EDL division leader held aloft an effigy of Bin Laden.

Opposite the contingent of EDL supporters, hundreds of radical Muslims were promising that Islam will one day dominate the world and that the freedoms we enjoy today will be a thing of the past. Their confidence in their cause, and the knowledge that the government remains clueless about how to tackle this threat, was no doubt a powerful recruitment tool for the next generation of radical Muslims and potential homegrown terrorists.
What was the police’s response to the protests? You guessed it, they arrested the EDL supporter and charged him with a section 5 for causing ‘offence’.

Celebrating the death of a man who was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people, and whose name exists as a rallying call for anti-Western radical Muslims worldwide, is offensive, but calling for the downfall of freedom and democracy, and mourning the death of such a monster is not!?..’   source

Is there any doubt at all that the Brit police are acting to protect muslims- at the expense of traditional freedoms?
