‘Massachusetts Principal Takes Aim at Fall Holidays, Says They’re Insensitive
An elementary school principal in Massachusetts has banned fall holidays, saying they’re insensitive, MyFoxBoston reported Friday.
Anne Foley, the principal at Kennedy School in Somerville, Mass., sent an email to teachers warning them about celebrating Thanksgiving, the Boston Herald reported.
“When we were young we might have been able to claim ignorance of the atrocities that Christopher Columbus committed against the indigenous peoples,” Kennedy School Principal Anne Foley wrote.
“We can no longer do so. For many of us and our students celebrating this particular person is an insult and a slight to the people he annihilated. On the same lines, we need to be careful around the Thanksgiving Day time as well.”..’
Women seem to be the leading instigators of this garbage. Their urge to mommify the world is dangerous and destructive.

    Part of the push to have Columbus Day re-named “Indigenous People’s Day” :roll:

    These are the same people who preach Darwinism and survival of the fittest,but insist on not admitting the pre-Colombian people’s were backward primitives.

    American’s adoration of Christopher Columbus has always cracked me up.

    Ol’ CC never traveled to what is now the US mainland and never claimed it for Spain. The Caribbean and Central America were his stamping grounds.

    Methinks some 18th Century American publicists desperate to give a fledgling state an aura of brand heritage had a brainstorming session and came up with an ambush marketing campaign: Spain’s discredited and discarded Z-lister was now the United States First Superhero.

      Adoration?What are you smoking? :lol: Some idiot in media during the late 40’s made the statement that Columbus discovered America and it stuck in pop culture Flash.It’s not taught that way in any school I attended.He discovered the New World which never really was lost from the get go.As many people as were plodding around the oceans at that time somebody sooner or later was going to run into it ,he just got lucky:roll:
      Colombus Day is just another excuse for federal employees to get a paid day off,other than that nobody celebrates it and few if any give a dam.

    …hardly describes the bravery and adventurousness of those hardy souls who set sail for parts unknown – almost ALL of whom were from OUR culture ( I don’t recall that any of the primitives were “plodding around the oceans at that time”).

    Let’s pay appropriate respect to our hardy pioneer explorers, and not slip too easily and lazily into cynicism and the sardonic (the stock in trade of Jon Stewart et al) .
