Those damn Greeks….
‘Well the Greeks have gone and done it now. The suggestion that the decision on whether to accept the latest, most draconian, bailout terms should be – good grief – submitted to the people is apparently so outrageous that it constitutes a “gross act of mismanagement”.
..The question was being asked with as much sanctimonious earnestness as the BBC can muster for these alarming events: at a time of such economic fragility and high risk isn’t it utterly irresponsible to put this question out to a mass vote of the population? In other words, shouldn’t that hapless electorate simply accept that its future will be determined by the political leaders of other countries?..’
The beginning of the end?
I bloody well hope so, Darin. This is an elegant demonstration of my contention that “democracy” is a sham and a farce. It’s dying.
Democracy is a transitional form of government,it can lead into or out of Tyranny.
Question then is which way are we headed?
Towards tyranny. Hell, we’re halfway there already. The only question remaining is whether full blown tyranny will arrive via the soft sliding road of sham elections or as the result of massive civil unrest.
Either way, it’s coming.
IMO democracy only holds together when the foundation of that society is firmly based on Judeo-Christian principles and values. Inherent to this worldview is that government is not the be all and end all but, like the general population, is subject to a higher authority.
With the advent of atheistic Marxism, Darwinism, and all their inherent spin-offs infecting once democratic Western societies we have seen the migration away from genuine democracy and towards increasing tyranny, the increasing of both bureaucracy and government size, and the related increase in state intrusion into the lives of the average citizen.
In short, Western societies without God will only lead to godless tyranny – where the state becomes the source of all wisdom and knowledge, and ultimately demands to be worshipped and revered as was the deity it has now replaced. The biblical Antichrist, who will head the soon coming one world government, will be the focus of such an evil and godless system.
Coming soon to a once democratic and sovereign nation state near you …
There is no difference between “godless’ tyranny and God-endorsed tyranny (of which Islam is an example). Tyranny is tyranny, exhibiting the same characteristics regardless of the belief/non-belief system it adheres to. Russian communism behaved exactly like a religious tyranny, right down to having its own holy Marxian bible.
To argue about such a fictitious relativety is to start down the road of red herrings. The main thing is to stop it in its tracks when it first raises its ugly head – which, unfortunately, history shows is the hardest thing to do. What happens instead is that you wake up one morning and find that “suddenly” you have a tyranny.

That said, there is no doubt that Judeo-Christian principles are the only decent foundation for a society.
“That said, there is no doubt that Judeo-Christian principles are the only decent foundation for a society.”
Indeed, Wakey – I guess, as a Christian, I see a direct correlation between J-C principles and the God of both Christianity and Judaism as espoused in the Bible.
This is, IMO, why communists, Marxists, socialists, Islamists, sodomites et al view both the traditional J-C and democratic West, and the God of the Bible who underwrites it as “the enemy”. And therefore why no effort is spared in attempting to route both J-C principles and the God behind them from Western society.
I believe it is a package deal – you can’t have one [J-C principles] without the other [the God of the Bible].
PS I also see much of what confronts all of us, atheist and Jew/Christian alike, as a battle between spiritual forces. Those “isms” I outlines above falling firmly under satanically driven and inspired ideologies on one side, with the biblical God and those who follow His teachings on the other.
In basic terms the battle is for our eternal souls, and each of us need to choose one side or the other.
Might as well profit from this mess if you can folks. Get ready to short the euro $. Good times!
Don’t tell the Wall St protesters !
The Greeks are now the Maori of Europe.
“No taxation without representation”
I believe the Greeks have a genuine cause for resistance in their hands. By which I mean, start shooting!
You betcha!
The whole charade is one big PONZI scheme, designed to further enslave through debt, the people of Greece. The austerity is required, but the Greeks to need to decide for themselves what level that the austerity is needed. Kick the lazy socialist arse holes out of the Euro by all means, but the ones who should be baring the losses should be the banks who lent to Greek govt and not the taxpayers of every other Euro nation.
IMF has shown time and time again that its bail outs are so the govt can repay institutional investors’ loans, those insto’s then send the money back to head office and effectively dry the economy of funds causing the collapse….. e.g. Indonesia in the final years of Suharto, the Asian crisis of 1997, and the story repeated itself in 2007…. too big to fail is just covering the banks arse. That is not capitalism. That is cronyism, and the only reason they can get away with it is because the politicians are so corrupted with socialist principles, they will do anything to get back-handers/ campaign contributions/ post retirement form office positions or access to deals… e.g. Carr for NSW, Cullen for Liarbore, Simon pinko Power for National to name a few
Spot-on, Mort. That’s it, in a nutshell.
“The Greeks are now the Maori of Europe.”
And what if they “democratically” vote themselves continued $life supports from a non-existent pool of $$$$ ?
Then they can print some more monopoly $$$$’s …………. and soon they will find out that they need a truck load of money to go and buy their HDTV or even their daily loaf of bread.
And one would hope that next time they won’t go voting for the politician who promises them the most ‘free’ money.
Greece could lead the way by dumping the PASOK and ND liberal socialists and returning to a 1967 Junta model. If not, let Turkey clean the buggers out.
Unlikely as Papandreau has already fired his restive generals in anticipation of….
Then it may be a choice between a corporal or the Turks.

is probably the best analysis I have read on the issue
So i was only partly right, liberty scott adds where it was needed
Thanks for the link, Mort.
Spot on with that Mort.. the commentary from Liberty Scott is right on the money!
The Big players in Europe cannot afford to let Greece default, as they see it, the domino theory. I think the Greek people will give PAPA a big NOOOO… then he has to:
a) resign b) put tanks on the street and force it through or c) take Greece out of the Euro currency but remain as an associate( bankrupt) member of the EU.
Interesting that Poland appears to be doing well for itself by staying out of the Euro currency trap but still able to trade freely with EU member countries..
I hope the Greeks tell the EU to piss off.
Yes, i know the world economy will be in the crapper, i know my super will be worse than worthless, but you know it’s not like i’m going to be any better off if the Greeks bend over and accept the boot from the EU. We’re the little guys and we always get screwed.
Greece should leave the EU, let those soft-fascists flutter in the wind, the hard-working German taxpayers will thank them for it.
