‘US official warns Myanmar of danger of religious intolerance
YANGON, Myanmar (AP) ” The top U.S. human rights official has warned Myanmar that efforts to use religion to divide the population are like “playing with fire.”
Rights activists say the biggest concern is rising Buddhist nationalism.
More than 140,000 Rohingya Muslims are living in camps since being chased from their homes by deadly violence three years ago…’
The concern has stuff-all to do with “human rights” and everything to do with the fact that – for once – muslims are on the receiving end of what they’re perfectly happy to dish out to others.I don’t recall any human rights official travelling to Nigeria and lecturing about the war on Christians. Or Saudi Arabia, to ask why there are “muslim only” lanes on the freeways etc etc etc etc etc. This guy is merely pushing the Administration’s pro-muslim policies.

The western self indulgent hippie classes use to love Buddhists even more than Muslims (they are soooo peaceful).

    • KG says:

Buddhists are generally peaceful, but they’re obviously smart enough to recognize an existential threat when it bites them on the ass. Unlike the West.

I will not pay one scintilla attention to Malinowski and his ilk until they show equal or greater concern about the Christians in the ME as their plight is dire whilst the Rohingya are only experiencing mild discomfort, and while the Buddhist Nationalism in no way mirrors the horror of islamic jihadism.

Anyway the chorus of muslim countries clamouring to take these muslims in is deafening.

Quite so. Just as they are queueing up to give those poor “Palestinians” a home..and didn’t Jordan kill dozens of Pallies?

  4. Cadwallader says:

The actions in Burma are not without precedent. In Sri Lanka last June a group of Buddhists rioted against some Islamos and, I understand, gave them a good hiding. It is inviting to cheer on the Buddhists but aren’t they potentially just a new band of terrorists with a different banner? All very confusing to me. :?:

    • KG says:

Far as I know, Buddhists generally have only reacted to violence perpetrated against them, Cad. And I have never heard of them exporting it for ideological or religious reasons.
So I cheer them on.

      • Cadwallader says:

Certainly Buddhists have an air of peace about them which is diametrically opposed to the Islamos who make the headlines in a bad way.

Actually, the Muzbots have been on the run for over a year in the Central African Republic after their attempted religious purge of that country, which caused the Christian population to do a modern day “Charles The Hammer” on them and at last report they seen beating feet and camel for Northern Africa.

  6. Flashman says:

Family members recently returned from a holiday visit to Burma…a good place that’s poised for an economic take-off.

Burma is firmly conservative Buddhist and musos are thus unwelcome.

    • KG says:

I’d love to visit Burma, Flash. Have you read George MacDonald Fraser’s superb “Quartered Safe Out Here”?

    • tranquil says:

      Sounds great Flash!
Great to see that there are still countries around where the locals are keen to give any Muslims a darned good *thrashing*….

  7. mistress mara says:

As ever, the MSM will never tell its audience exactly WHY the Burmese are doing this. I’m not a fan of any religion but it pleases me that the Monks have some steel under their robes.

    • KG says:

To tell the whole story would dilute the “muslims as victim” theme.
Isn’t it amazing, after every high-profile muzzie atrocity, there’s a rash of “news” items casting them as lovely people, victims of discrimination and undeserved backlash etc.

The latter day Nazi-Soviet Pact Propaganda Ministry in action :!:

Of course, Western Socialists must say only good things about their Islamo-nazi allies in the Pact of Steel to destroy Western Civilization.

Also, there is Media Tradition – in 1938 TIME magazine declared Hitler “Man of the Year” :!:
