Interesting item, seems this author, mother and professional psychoanalyst has written a new book that is catching some ire from the feminist left-

“Erica Komisar, who penned the book “Being There: Why Prioritizing Motherhood in the First Three Years Matters,” links a recent increase in mental illness and developmental disorders in children with an increasing cultural devaluation of mothering.

She said in an blog post for Book Culture that she made these observations during her 27 years in private practice as a parenting coach and psychoanalyst. Komisar cites data from the CDC, which states that antidepressant use in the U.S. has increased nearly 400 percent between the periods of 1988 through 1994 and 2005 through 2008, which offers some correlative–though not causative–support for her ideas.”

The shock and horrors continue on when she asserts that mothers and fathers are not interchangeable.

    • Ronbo says:

@Darin: Good news: It would appear that a rising number young adults believe the mother should stay at home and raise the kids – and dad be the bread winner.

Rush Limbaugh throws in his two cents worth on the topic:

Two stories here, both from PJ Media, and one of them is on April 5th, and the other one was from the next day, April 6th. First one, “Millennial Men Prefer to Be Family Breadwinners, Have Stay-at-Home Wives.” Can I take you back to the early 90’s? Those of you who have been listening here nonstop for 30 years, you’ll remember this when I jog your memory. Throughout the course of this program there have been cultural upheavals, and during those upheavals I get calls from people, “Rush, when is this gonna stop? When is this insanity gonna stop?”

My answer was, after having researched this very thing — for example, why hasn’t this country just continued to head toward the sewer with each succeeding generation becoming worse than the previous one? When a generation features debauchery and sloth and all these things, and the next generation a little bit more, what stops it? Why is there a reversal? And the answer, according to research was that at some point — and it’s cyclical, and it’s almost, in terms of American history, guaranteed — that every third or fourth generation is going to get fed up with the lives that its parents and grandparents lived and want no part of it.

So apparently it’s a generational thing and every 4th generation swings back to a more traditional and family oriented way of life….The Elizabethan Age is followed by the Age of the Puritan.

      LMAO! :-)

The border today is as wide open as it ever was….however, the simple announcement by the Trump Administration that a wall is being built and the laws on immigration already on the books will be enforced has reduced illegal immigration by a large percentage.

Just think: when the border really has been sealed in a couple years, illegal immigration will drop to zero.

BTW, I had a brainstorm about illegal aliens. The Feds should make illegal entry to the USA a five year felony and send the captured ones to GITMO – America’s Devil Island. I think we go legally do this since the captured illegals are not American citizens – no trial, no appeals – just the jet ride on CONAIR to GITMO.

Can you imagine the chilling effect this would have on potential illegal border crossers?

Also, Leftist heads would explode all over the country!

My take on the current state of America is the majority have turned nationalist – and what does a nationalist love best? The strongman. The man on horseback.  THE TEAM LEADER. Americans like to think of themselves as rugged individualists, independents, level headed men and women of reason, but the reality is like people all over the world in their hearts they want order, discipline, and all oars in the water at the same time. Teamwork. The Chinese word is GUNG HO!. The stark reality is that Americans are team players who search for a team captain and once selected/elected that man is the leader of the pack, in victory or defeat, it’s kind of like a marriage, as the bond is in this case between Trump and his team. No third party Leftist Media can break this bond. No foreign nation throwing mega tons of nuclear bombs can so much as knock off the first coat of paint on The Agreement  between Trump and his team.

    • Gregoryno6 says:

Although, when you look through the comments at Breitbart, there’s an awful lot of ‘That’s it, I’m done with Trump’ and ‘The bastard has sold us out’ to be found.
It could be the troll demographic gone into overdrive, but then they could have dominated before the election too and didn’t.
It’s disappointing for me as a conservative son of the West that a lot of conservatives are so quick to grab at reasons to give up. ‘Oh, well, this has happened and that finishes it. We’re screwed good and proper now and nothing will fix it.’ I thought we were the people with the historical perspective – the team that could take the longer term view.
FFS, he’s been in the Oval Office for three months. Give him a chance.

      • Ronbo says:

I think Limbaugh has it right about Trump – he’s not into ideology – he’s not a conservative. So it would stand to reason he will make the hardcore conservatives – those who put their ideology – their sacred Principles – before country – unhappy.

What Trump is – in my never humble opinion – is a Nationalist – a Patriot – one who is above politics and wants to do what he thinks is best for America.

I think of Nationalism as a big tent in which people who love America have different ideologies, but are united in their opposition to International Socialism- or Globalism, if you prefer.

I believe that most Trump supporters are like me. Yes, as a Ayn Rand Objectivist- I would like the State to be much, much smaller and the individual much more powerful; however, as a Nationalist, I have no problem being allied with the moderate conservatives and other people I disagree with in political terms because their Patriotism – their Nationalism – their love of the United States – is as great as mine.

Jefferson Davis – the Confederate president was asked after the U.S. Civil War why the South failed to secure its independence from the USA, Davis replied – “The Confederacy died because of principle” – by that he meant to say, it’s ideology as a highly decentralized nation where the governors of various states often had more authority than the government at Richmond and could not come together even in the face of invasion.

Today’s Nationalists will not follow the Confederacy to defeat, we will not die on “Principle” – we are not martyrs who allow themselves to be burned at the stake “on principle.”- We are canny survivors – who will live to debate our conservative friends on the fine points of capitalism and whether or not Ayn Rand had the best ideas on the subject, or was it Ronald Reagan?

Men of good will can debate and compromise and put the issue to majority vote and agree to live together in peace whatever the result of the election….Men of good will, that is.

Our U.S. Civil War ancestors of the Blue and Grey could teach us all about war – there is no such thing as a “limited” war or a “police” action: WAR IS HELL!

“War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it; the crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.” –General Sherman

“I always thought we ought to meet the Federal invaders on the outer verge of just right and defense, and raise at once the black flag, (TOTAL WAR) It would in the end have proved true humanity and mercy. The Bible is full of such wars, and it is the only policy that would bring the North to its senses.” — General Stonewall Jackson

“War is the remedy our enemies have chosen. Other simple remedies were within their choice. Yon know it and they know it, but they wanted war, and I say let us give them all they want; not a word of argument, not a sign of let up, no cave in till we are whipped or they are.”

          —General Sherman

“This affair annoyed Jackson extremely, the force of Federal cavalry which made the charge … Shoot them all, he said, coldly; I don’t want them to be brave.”

          — General Stonewall Jackson

Governor May Ask Court to Force Other States to Stop Sending Polluted Air to Connecticut

Connecticut has renewed its demand that the federal government force western and southern states to stop sending air pollution here, but Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Wednesday he expects the state will have to go to court to force them to comply.

And we are simply waiting for the other shoe to drop –i.e., when some Prog judge goes along with the demand.

I keep seeing these articles encouraging Americans to move and/or vacation in “hidden” New Zealand – Yes, the island-nation of great natural beauty and kind/intelligent/homey/colorful people you will just love as characters right out of a big budget Hollywood movie. .

JEEZ! What a deal! I WANNA GO!

…and then I looked at the Visa requirement for us Yanks and discovered the bar is pretty high – For instance, if you’re a convicted felon like most of us Yanks NO WAY YOU GET IN OUR NICE COUNTRY….But assuming you’re not a Yank with a police record and not on the lam for that bank job in Los Angeles or San Francisco, and not a deserter from the U.S. Armed Forces who just blew up his Company Commander in Afghanistan…There are further requirements: You must have a round trip plane reservation in your hot little Yankee hands AND proof that you can pay your hotel rooms, meals, transportation and the high hooker fees (Okay that last one isn’t in there :-)…But let’s say you prove to NZ immigration that you are an Eagle Scout, never been arrested and volunteer for the Salvation Army every Sunday for the last 20 years, have a credit score above 756, a solid gold bank, savings and checking account at picky Wells Fargo in excess of $10,000…(WHEW!)

Then NZ immigration plays the theme song from OLIVER!

…and you and the smiling and dancing NZ agents escort you out of the terminal to a waiting and smiling cabbie in a turban who doesn’t speak a word of English – and rips you off big time on the way hair raising drive to the hotel, where the smiling olive skinned clerk who can’t speak a word of English cannot find your paid up reservation – and you get the honor of paying TWICE for the same room..

Meanwhile, the in the lounge, the local Kiwis say to one another over good English ale, “A Yank actually got into the country! The first one in weeks!”

There are good tactical reasons for training and equipping large numbers of snipers at this stage of the civil war. In an urban environment they – and sabotage – will be the most lethal weapons, especially as far as demoralizing the opposition is concerned.
(and by “snipers” I don’t mean merely good shots – those are ten a penny. All the other skills such as target I.D., ingress and egress, concealment and so forth need to be taught by competent people.)

Anyone here besides me paying attention to the Berkeley riots of the 15th, when Right and Left met in toe to toe street combat?

If the Berkeley cops continue to stand down during these riots between the Right and Left, it’s only question of time until someone decides to bring a gun to a fist fight – and open civil war breaks out there, because once body bags start to be filled, we will be seeing an endless cycle of revenge killings – and the streets of American cities will run red with the blood of patriots and traitors.

The weather is getting warmer and we will be seeing more and more violence in an apparent run up to open civil war…

…And Berkeley, California is just the place for a “Ft. Sumter Moment.”

The DOJ should step in and charge the police chiefs with dereliction of duty or being party to a crime. Or whatever charges are possible.
Otherwise, the right can legitimately view the police as the enemy.

      • Ronbo says:

Yes, the police in Berkeley clearly are the enemy….to the Right.

But don’t you think in segregated Alabama or Mississippi in the 50s and 60s the police were the enemy of the de- segregationists.

Of course, we know Eisenhower and Kennedy called their bluffs and won the day, but those were different times – and the Democrat governors of the southern states not as foolish as Democrat governors like Jerry Brown

Yes, like yourself I agree the DOJ needs to come down hard on these Leftist controlled police departments and Sanctuary Cities & States, but perhaps the Trump Administration is holding back out of fear of causing a bigger explosion that could be laid on them? One that they would difficulty controlling?

What if federal cops and Berkeley cops start banging away at one another? What if Trump calls up the California National Guard to restore order in Berkeley, but the troops rally to side of the Democrat governor and point guns at the Feds?

These are dangerous times….anything could happen.
