community leaders who had approached police and agreed to assist in resolving this situation failed
to achieve the objective of peacefully dispersing the group, with the community leader informing

Delaware’s Supreme Court, however, ruled that when a movie theater manager asked an audience to stay quiet during Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married,” the manager was not acting on a racial impulse, reported the Hollywood Reporter.
The ruling overturned a judgment that would have awarded 23 black theatergoers $1,500 for being told to be quiet in a way seen by some to be racially charged, according to the report.
Carmike 14 Theater was told to pay nearly $80,000 for insulting, humiliating and demeaning patrons in the “minority-themed” movie, reported Delaware Online.
The outrage began one night in October 2007 when David Stewart, the theater’s white manager, told the crowd to silence cell phones before the screening.

One patron followed Stewart out of the theater and said his instructions did not sit well with some in the audience.
Juana Fuentes-Bowles, then the director of Delaware’s Human Relations Division, was in the audience and stood up and told the crowd that his remarks were racist.
Despite Stewart’s effort to assure to the audience that he did not mean to offend, Bowles’ office launched an inquiry and held a hearing….’

‘A POLICEMAN was punched in the face during a brawl involving a number of adults outside a south-western Sydney high school believed to have been sparked by a dispute between students.
Six adults, aged from 26 to 50, arrested outside Hoxton High School, in Hinchinbrook, in the city’s south-west about 3pm (AEDT) yesterday, have charged with various offences, including affray.
“One of the sergeants was punched in the face a couple of times at that scene by one of the males,” Acting Superintendent Stephen Corry told Macquarie Radio today…
Hours later, at about 8pm (AEDT), a group of about 40 supporters went to Green Valley police station where the men and women were being held…

A few day ago I shooed a good-size brown snake out of a toilet at the museum next door–then a few minutes ago I walked around the corner downstairs to use the garden hose and there was another, right next to the hose. A bang on the house wall sent him off to look for somewhere quieter. Which is the nurse’s house next door.

A STARTLED man has told how he found a bullet lying in a York city-centre street.
Tim Stark said he was unloading items into the MOR Music store where he works in Fossgate yesterday morning when he spotted what he believed to be a live .22 bullet gleaming in a puddle.
