‘This is scandalous. To punish News Ltd and save the ABC’s financial hide, the Gillard Government has overruled (twice) the clear recommendation of an independent tender committee:
THE Gillard government has dumped its bungled tender process for the $223 million Australia Network and handed control and funding of the overseas network to the ABC forever.
……This seems to me – and those closer to the decision – to be an utterly shameful use of state power to intimidate and punish critics of the state. Public interest and sound process has been trashed by squalid mate’s rates politics and a bit of political gangsterism to try to cow the media…’
