It’s not the meek, but bureaucrats who shall inherit the earth:

RNZAF chopper crashes, killing three.
Inquiry finds serious faults with RNZAF structures and practices. The response?
“Since the accident, there has been a major review of the command and control of NZDF flying operations resulting in significant organisational change,” Chief of Air Force Air Vice-Marshall Peter Stockwell said.
“Specifically, the Air Force has reorganised command and control at Ohakea (Air Force base) by establishing a new high-level headquarters, No 488 Wing, to improve oversight and ensure safer flying practice.
“This includes a strong focus on standards and evaluation, and appropriate staff support to improve the supervision of flying activities.”
blah blahblahblatherblah…
You mean, there wasn’t already “a strong focus on standards and evaluation”???
Reads like something from the local playcentre’s “mission statement”, doesn’t it? Like the horseshit peddled by bureaucrats everywhere. And that’s because to achieve high command it’s first of all necessary to be a corporate suit, recycling this kind of “management” bullshit. And of course, part of the “solution” is to establish another layer of bureaucrapracy. There’ll  be some more promotions in there somewhere. Just how many vastly overpaid and under-employed very senior officers does the shell of what once was an Air Force need?

Yes ten paper shufflers for every doer that’s the go.

With an annual report to justify their existence and powerpoint presentations galore filled with bullet point platitudes which when unraveled mean nothing but sound learned and wise when spoken – especially when nobody is really listening

Yep. That’s just the way it is and will be–even after the money finally runs out. Because these drones will be the last to lose their jobs.

SOP for orificers in the NZDF when they’ve crapped in their nestbox. Promoted to a high paying time serving desk job in Wellytown, complete with career path glass ceiling immediately above cubicle. Naval Staff was full of them, Army and Air Farce no different.

Hmmm is that before, or after they fill the positions for the new gay, lesbian and transgender support group?

Money shot, bravo. I spot an opening for an Air Vice Marshal [complete with support staff of 120+] being created. There’s a silver lining in every tragedy I guess.

Par for the course in a broken-arsed air farce that routinely puts squadron leaders in command of single helicopters on detachment.
