POTUS as serial liar:

‘In 2008 candidate Sen. Barack Obama famously said: “This is part of the whole theory of George Bush that he can make laws as he is going along. I disagree with that. I taught the Constitution for 10 years. I believe in the Constitution and I will obey the Constitution of the United States. We are not going to use signing statements as a way of doing and end run around Congress.”
….”I refuse to take ‘No’ for an answer..”                       source

  1. Yep, caught out there.

I thought this comment was interesting:

If he were acting within the confines of the law and the Constitution, the argument might make sense. But Obama has now adopted a theory of executive power so expansive that a reporter at a recent press conference understandably asked whether the president believes we have a virtual monarchy, a president of unlimited powers subject only to periodic elections but not to the rule of law.

He’s just described the NZ political system.

  2. And the Australian and the British, Zen. It’s a disease which infects the West.

  3. The difference is, KG, the US has a founding document which sets out the RoE and the limits of governmental authority – which Osama bin Kenya is systemically trampling. New Zealand is a Parliamentary Dictatorship. It is epitomised by the statement “we have a virtual monarchy, a [government] of unlimited powers subject only to periodic elections…” Witness the flip-flops of the Quisling Key. Witness the betrayal of the people. There is no power of recall, which in any event would be a pointless power in a one-party state like NZ.

  4. No document (even ones penned by the likes of Jefferson and Madison) can protect Liberty as effectively as a populace determined to be vigorously free (as opposed to nominally free). But the conversion from a Republic to a dictatorship is nearly complete. Americans have learned to vote themselves largess from the public trough, and in so doing have traded away their birthright in exchange for a pittance. Next stop: tyranny.

Yep. And it’s not just America, is it?

    • Of course he is; like all western governments, he’s so busy attacking his own country * he hasn’t got time to defend it.
