Don’t bother telling me some teenager is “just a kid”

18 and 19 year-olds once climbed into tiny, primitive airplanes fitted with these, and flew them in combat. Very young men were also naval officers and they skippered the great tea and wool clippers halfway round the world. We too often excuse rotten behaviour on the basis of a person’s youth.

  1. The Gantt Guy says:

But, but but when the Red Queen was a mere slip of a thing, in her ’30s and a partner in an activist “law firm”, she was so young and naive and girlish she facilitated, aided and abetted her “boyfriend” in defrauding the Australian Workers’ Union of several hundred ths and dollars.

She was young, innocent, naive. Just a girl, really. In her ’30s.

  2. KG says:

Riiiiiight…… they must be growing up veeeerrry slowly theses days…..
But not too slowly, apparently, to be a partner in one of Australia’s highest-profile law firms.

  3. KG says:

Bolt’s latest post on the subject is devastating. That McClelland should say what he did is remarkable.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Yup. Methinks Robert McLelland is about to serve up an ice-cold helping of Revenge. And bloody good in him!

      • KG says:

They sure as hell can’t attack his credentials.

        • The Gantt Guy says:

Agreed. What more could the ALP love than a hack union lawyer who followed daddy into the ALP and the Parliament?

A brilliant cartoon, on the subject of executive privilege:

  6. Darin says:

Yep,back then “kids” were sailing ships, flying planes and fighting wars….already adults on their way to become history makers.

    Now we have this-
    http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/bullied-ny-bus-monitor-hopes-parents-video-16618916

It’s a sad comment that we even need bus monitors let alone that we are raising lazy, stupid ,souless fithly mouthed afterbirths and calling them adults just because they survived to 18 :rant

And then we have this total BS from a “Parenting expert”-

“”I think to go after these kids in a punitive way, it just doesn’t help,” she said. Nelson knows that the vast majority of parents will scoff both at that notion — and at her belief that the young bullies are merely acting out due to their own “need for a sense of significance and belonging.”

More if you can stomach it here-

I say horsecrap! Bend them over and let the belt fly and afterwards those kids should spend the summer over at the lady’s house cleaning, painting and cutting the grass :rant

    Sigh….time was, Darin..

  8. Katie says:

Not only did they climb into those planes, they sail on the ships manning the guns. The stormed the beaches of Normandy to liberate Europe. They stormed the beaches of Islands in the Pacific, islands that no one knew their names until the battles fought there.

And we are losing them, those who fought for liberty and freedom, too fast now.

  9. Brian Smaller says:

My father who is still alive, won the Military Medal in Italy at the age of 19. he had already been fighting for two years.

    • KG says:

And people now say “our kids are growing up too fast”, Brian.
The problem as I see it is that lot of them aren’t growing up, just growing older.

  10. Moist von Lipwig says:

Some teens have still got it.

    • KG says:

 I read that, and it made me smile, vonL. Especially the police officer’s comments.

      • Darin says:

Oh hell ya!Get that boy a membership at the local range so he can improve his aim ;-)

  11. Moist von Lipwig says:

    Saw that too..
“but this young man did exactly what he should have done,”

Can you imagine the panty-wetters who are supposed to protect us in this country
    saying something similar?
