Two enlisted Marines in dress uniform were present at my son’s graveside service three years ago. Taps was very good that day. One Marine held the trumpet as though playing it, but it was really a recording in the horn. Did not matter, the scene was perfect. Semper Fidelis good boy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7bMAlMAdmY&feature=related
“Day is done, gone the sun, From the hills, from the lake, From the skies. All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.”
His death changed everything about my life, KG. It is strange to try to drink yourself to death, come out of deep grief and still be alive and in good health with blue skies overhead.
Sometimes, Contempt, we endure and survive despite ourselves.
Try to believe there’s some purpose in that, my friend.
Contempt – I’m truly very sorry to hear about your hardships. Losing a son is a burden you should not have to bear. I wish you well. mawm.
Sorry to hear of your loss Contempt, all any of us can do to honor our dead is to go on living each day to it’s fullest with the faith that one day we will be reunited with them.
Thanks y’all. This fellow wrote a song for my son and sang it at the service. Here’s one by J Edwards “Ain’t Gonna be Your Dog.” J’s a good ole boy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a76DXx4m76w
