HUH? Overkill, much?

NZ Herald:
‘A 65-year-old man was injured by a stingray in Northland this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the remote Karikari Peninsula after receiving calls that the man had been hit by a barb just after 9am.

Ambulance, fire service and police were responding to the calls.
Obviously, a criminal stingray that was on fire. (and John thinks that perhaps it’s armed as well)

    No AOS, then?

  2. KG says:

 They’ll get around to it, John. It takes the AOS a day or so to get organised.

Has a Stingray study group or committee been chaired yet? Can’t do anything without a committee or three.

We crossed the Daly River causeway in a ute a few years ago, the first car to cross it at the end of the wet season. We only just made it, the car was being pushed sideways by the force of the current. There’s no bloody way I’d intentionally swim in that spot! http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_negative.gif

Typical “emergency services” response to an otherwise trivial incident. A full turn-out of the boyos just to play with all their toys, provide a pretext for sending multiple fat self-justifying reports to head office, create a justification for holding day-long debriefing sessions and generally break the tedium.

My only surprise is the a full-on AOS alert wasn’t involved and an air force helicopter didn’t get scrambled.

Too dangerous for AOS and the chopper had used the months fuel allocation.
