What Australia’s in “the grip of” is a surfeit of do–gooder knee-jerk nannies. The vast majority of people drink moderately and don’t get pissed and violent. Why the HELL should we face restrictions because idiots and scumbags can’t handle their drink?

    My Aunties town in North Queensland banned Aborigines from the pub [well that was in the 70’s..don’t know if that applies today ]

      No bans as such, nominto. What tends to happen now is that blackfellas tend to avoid drinking in the pubs and instead buy the booze and take it elsewhere for consumption.
      That said, we’ve seen pubs where Aborigines drink with no problems. (well, until later in the evening, when everybody’s getting pissed and liable to become a problem. :grin: )

    Speaking of bar bans – My favorite bar in Seattle, where I often hoist a pint on Friday night has banned the new expensive glasses from Google that have a built in camera and mike.

    Said my buddy the owner, who is good for a free round every now and then, “This is a DIVE BAR! and our patrons are here to get pissed, and they don’t need no video posted on Facebook…especial Ronbo!” :mrgreen:
