Jaw-dropping arrogance:

‘Obesity experts in New Zealand are dismayed at the legal clamp slapped on New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s law to ban super-sized sugary soft drinks in restaurants…
…..Fight the Obesity Epidemic spokeswoman Dr Robyn Toomath said it was a great shame the mayor’s bid to help halt the growth of New Yorkers’ waistlines had been thwarted.
“Nobody believed by itself this would make a significant difference, but it was getting things under way … It set the direction that there are opportunities for regulation that will make a difference. I hope he fights back.”
She hopes he’ll “fight back” eh…..a deeply anti-liberty arrogant clown presumes to tell people what they may eat and drink and this equally arrogant nannying idiot half a world away wants him to use taxpayer’s money to find a compliant judge in order to re-instate his diktat. (Which will have zero effect in any case.)
In all this, the two things not mentioned are liberty and personal responsibility.
Any bastard who speaks of “opportunities for regulation” ought to be flogged.
Here’s an idea for “regulation that will make a difference”: Start giving every fucking nanny with an urge to interfere in the lives of others a fat lip. For the first offence. For the second, a spell breaking rocks on a road gang ought to effect an attitude adjustment.

These silly fuckwits never remember that it is the fat pricks themselves who need to exercise a bit of self-discipline and self-restraint. Two words” Personal Responsibility! Bloomberg is a mayor of a city. His job is to care for shit-pipes and footpaths.

  2. KG says:

Quite. “personal responsibility” is the last thing these bastards want to see, though. That would erode their power base and cause people to start thinking for themselves.

A similar debate has been had regarding cigarettes. Why tobacco companies are said to be 100% culpable for smoking addictions/ill health is a true mystery to me.

      • KG says:

Well, I’m a smoker, Cad and I’m willing to testify (for a large damages payout, naturally) that I was lured–nay, forced into smoking by a giant conglomerate, way back when.
        I forget it’s name, though…Peter somebody, I think……

First they came for Cokes, then they came for my mustard based pork BBQ. Then it was my grits with two eggs over medium, white toast and grape jelly. Seems like the fattest fattys in the grocery line use food stamps. However, I may be wrong. We got some 1,000 pound morbidly obese folks in this country no doubt about it.

Darwinian theory has the answer to that, and should be left to work.

I noticed a few changes since our state government went Republican in the last election.

A trip to the DMV to renew my Drivers License took 10 minutes even with two people in line ahead of me.

Paying my Property taxes took 5 minutes in the same building

Both places I was greeted with a smile and called Sir and the person behind the counter was both courteous, polite and professional.

An e-mail to the State Public Service commission sent Sunday night received an answer 7:58 Monday morning and has been followed up on twice by the same commissioner.

And we are slated to have a budget surplus this year.

I just don’t know if I can stand all the common sense efficiency

  5. KG says:

I don’t recall anybody running on an election platform of “educating the public”.

It’s a funny thing, when you simply present the facts and allow people to make their own choices it works suprisingly well.http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yahoo.gif

Don’t worry, once the Californian refugees flood into your state, it’ll revert to the same-old. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_sad.gif

We’ll let only card carrying conservatives in,the rest can FOAD.

We still have Texas and Louisiana as a buffer, but if that fails we’ll blow the bridges
