An ‘Aussie Cyprus’ looms…..?

‘GILLARD Government debt levels are forecast to blow out by 80 per cent to $165 billion in this term alone – equal to more than $14,000 for every working Australian….’
They inherited a very strong economy and they’ve done their best to wreck it. Already they’re talking about raiding Aussie super funds in order to help “balance the budget”.
The sooner this pack of mendacious incompetent socialists are given the boot, the better.

UPDATE: from this morning’s News.com:
‘JULIA Gillard has failed to rule out if Labor will raid superannuation funds in the May budget, saying any decisions made for the sector will be in Australia’s long term interest.’
and
‘more than six million Australians now live off government benefits or salaries, with only another six million Australians working full-time in the private sector to pay for them.’

I have an idea, we will take over the Aussie debt and you can take over ours. At least your people are upset with their debt. Ours have their heads in the sand.

    • KG says:

“At least your people are upset with their debt.”
      Not many are.

      • Findalis says:

Raise taxes and give more welfare and they might be.

        • KG says:

We’re already being severely ripped off in the form of “government charges” in addition to paying tax, Findalis. Most people seem oblivious.
And welfare is at an all-time high. Again, most people seem fairly relaxed about that.
Australians are a very easy-going people. Any more easy-going and we’d be comatose.

Regime change is expensive. Didn’t you tell me just a few weeks ago that you still had a strong currency?http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_cool.gif

  3. KG says:

New Zealand – The Reserve Bank is in the final stages of implementing a system of managing bank failure called Open Bank Resolution. The scheme will put all bank depositors on the hook for bailing out their bank. Depositors will overnight have their savings shaved by the amount needed to keep the bank afloat.
Via The Woodpile Report. link over there on the right>>>>

So–a bank can be mismanaged, award execs multi-million dollar bonuses and when it looks like folding it will be able to steal depositor’s funds. Not a bad scam, is it? And a hell of a lot of people’s wages or salaries MUST be paid directly into their bank accounts, so there’s no realistic way to opt-out of the racket.

  4. Darin says:

“And a hell of a lot of people’s wages or salaries MUST be paid directly into their bank accounts, so there’s no realistic way to opt-out of the racket.”

The weekly salary is not what they are after. They are after savings and retirement accounts,401ks,IRAs and the like. They won’t touch peoples day to day living expenses,at least not yet.If they did there would be instant, unstoppable rioting in every major city by end of day.The banks in Cyprus still aren’t open, but they are allowing money to trickle out through the ATM machines. This keeps calm among the common blue collar ranks who are the ones that really drive the economy and keep the machine running. If those people get wind that their day to day finances are being slashed then there will be uncontrolled implosion in a matter of hours and there is no stopping it.
The one way to cheat the collectivist banker/government hacks is to simply put your vapor currency into solid assets.Buy Gold,Silver,a car,a house, land even beans and rice. That will secure your wealth from the government crows, then the only trick is securing it from your local street level thugs.

    • KG says:

I wasn’t suggesting they’d come after people’s pay packets, Darin.
But don’t forget, they can easily tax the money and reduce withdrawals to a dribble.
In other words, people lose effective control over how their pay is spent.

      • The Gantt Guy says:

Didn’t some fella once say something about crushing the middle class between taxes and inflation?

        • KG says:

Yep. Good to see you, Gantt.

          • The Gantt Guy says:

Not really back as such, an damned disappointed about it. Working all the hours god sends, and in my spare time been caught up in a personal situation fighting the age old existential questions and moral dilemmas.

For now, I have a few minutes to myself sitting in a cab from Auckland airport to home at Gulf Harbour. Bloody glad the client’s footing the fare for this one!

      • Darin says:

In reality we have no control over how it’s spent now and haven’t for many years.I no longer see any separation between governments and banks because there never really was any,at least in my lifetime.

  5. Darin says:

I’ve been studying in the last few weeks our old system of capitalism with limited government involvement-vs- our current system of total government control and have made some surprising discoveries.I hope in another week to have one real whopper of an essay ready.
In the meantime, watch as Ayn Rand accurately predicts to the letter what we are seeing now-

    • Ronbo says:

      @Darin:

I’ve been an Objectivist since the summer of 1970 in Arlington, Virginia, where a girlfriend gave me a copy of ATLAS SHRUGGED and said, “Ron, you gotta read this book! This woman says some of same things you say, but much better!”

I was a sergeant in the Army at that time and had staff duty NCO duty for July 4th weekend, which was pretty slow and boring at the base, and had plenty of time to get started on AS, and finished it up the next week.

Elaine was absolutely right on – Ayn Rand and I were on the same wavelength, and since then I have always believed her prediction of an unsustainable economic/political situation would develop in the world due to socialism.

This is the reason I advocate a policy of “wait and watch” for patriots – not only is Big Government too powerful at the present time to attack head on – much of our dirty work will be done in the coming “Great Crash” when all the wheels fly off the Red Wagon of Big Government/Big Industry/Big Education and big everything else and a state of anarchy is created.

Then we “New Men” come out of our various “Galt’s Gulch” around the globe to build a new and better world on the ruins of the old one.

“If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the greater his effort the heavier the world bore down upon his shoulders – What would you tell him?”

I…don’t know. What…could he do? What would you tell him?”

      To shrug.”

      ― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

So what if Obama in America and Gillard in Australia wants to destroy their nations!

The worse it gets, the better for us.

  6. KG says:

“I hope in another week to have one real whopper of an essay ready.”
    Great!

  7. KG says:

    From your Rand video:
“the most dangerous things in this country today are the universities”
    YES!

  8. I dunno says:

    Bring it on Darin!!

  9. RWT says:

I think KG is right, i don’t think that the national debt is high on the minds of most people. For most people the debt goes up, their pay stays the same, their taxes stay the same, so who cares, not their problem.

After all it’s not like that red commie is going to make anyone pay the debt off in her remaining few months. When we do eventually start feeling the pain of it, the conservatives will be in power and most will just mutter – those bastard conservatives again!

It’s a wonder anyone actually wants to become prime minister to clean up the shit that’s largely of our own making.

    • Ronbo says:

You people in Australia do understand that “The Welsh Slut” is cut from the same socialist mold as Obama and on the same warpath – the destruction of the capitalist economy.

Gillard’s main idea to destroy capitalism is the “Carbon Tax.”

Obama knows that his “Obamacare” socialized medicine will murder the American capitalist economy.

      What then?

I think their idea goes something like this: “Once capitalism is destroyed, the State will be the last man standing, and then we impose communism.”

The problem with that brainstorm is that if you sink the ship you’re sailing on, you go into the water with the rest of passengers and crew, who just may be a little ticked off at you and your crowd for sinking the damn ship and not allow you into their lifeboats.

      In which case, you drown.http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yahoo.gif

  10. KG says:

Good to see you, RWT.

“When we do eventually start feeling the pain of it, the conservatives will be in power and most will just mutter – those bastard conservatives again!”
Absolutely true. And Labor are doing their best to ensure the next government inherits a whole raft of problems.

    • Ronbo says:

      @KG:

If the Australian elections are honest you may get a conservative government, but as we in America saw last November, an honest election may have disappeared from the world stage.

      Best of luck!
