I have several black friends who are patriots/veterans that detest the Obama Regime/White Leftists, but remain silent in public because they fear the wrath of their community, family and black friends.
So long before Dr. Carson spoke out against The Regime he knew in advance what the response would be from the Left – but he knew it was important and that he had the guts to take the Leftist blow back, which is doing so far with a smile and a reasoned response that has not slowed down his (so far) private war against the Left.
I would compare him to Sarah Palin who knew damn good and well BEFORE she accepted the vice presidential nomination back in 2008 what the blow back would be from the Left in regards to a high profile patriot woman standing up for the Republic.
In fact, the Leftist propaganda firestorm against Palin has moved an almost unknown Republican former governor of Alaska into the role of a major fund raiser and possible presidential candidate for 2016.
Thus Leftist criticism, character assassination and threats of physical violence against a true Patriot/Idealist are like rain falling on a duck’s back – it rolls right off, and only serves to make the rain makers look stupid, petty, small and mean spirited.
Also, it has the effect of moving an unknown patriot into a higher and more dangerous (for them) position in national politics.
