    O/T, but can anyone here tell me the exact consequences of putting about 1/2 a tank of petrol in the tank of a diesel engine and running it? I know it can’t be good!

    A witch-hunt is going on over this at work. Fortunately, my diary proves I have an alibi :mrgreen:

    I have my doubts that the petrol went into the tank, as that engine has been running rough for far longer than when the petrol was purchased. I think someone has simply been stealing petrol…

      You mean, the half-filled the diesel tank with petrol? 50:50 diesel/petrol, in other words. :shock:
      If they did that, I very much doubt the engine would be running at all, and if it was it would be a lot worse than just “rough”.

    Have you tried pissing in the tank? Sometimes that will work.

    Yep, 50/50 diesel and petrol and it was still running ok, with the occasional miss, a week later. I smell bullshit!

    I believe it is the dealer making up a bullshit story to get out out of paying for warrantee repairs.

    The mystery petrol on the fuel account is another matter…
