‘A VIOLENT Tongan man jailed for bashing police, prison officers and a shopping centre security guard has beaten his deportation order – so he can “work towards a better me”.
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) says the man has a “very extensive criminal record” and a “long history of violent offending” – but has ruled he should stay in Australia…’

    How appropriate that a criminal should be alloowed to stay in a natin which was founded by criminals. :grin:

      Yeah. And how ironic that one of our major imports from New Zealand has been maori and islander criminals.
      Perhaps we should bring back transportation as a sentence. You can have them back.
      And you like “a nation founded by criminals” well enough to live here, Adolf.

      Both America and Australia were originally settled by failed aristocrats, adventurers, Roman Catholics, Protestants from sects on the outs with the Church of England – and criminals.

      The colony of Georgia was settled originally by prisoners given “transportation” by the English courts.

      However, in this era you could get thrown into an English prison for minor crimes like stealing a loaf of bread, or some other minor offense.

    Was yarning with some Tongans the other night at the laundromat. O.k blokes, however I wish Australians would pick their own almonds.
    Movie/mini-series Blue Murder I saw years ago had a *very* different outcome for crims who had a go at coppers. Must’ve changed the cops culture here quite dramatically in the 15-20 years since then?

    The Brits transported their criminals and founded Australia.
    New Zealand keeps most of them at home, gives them the vote, vast areas of land and vast amounts of taxpayer’s money, then allows them to screw the democratic process by virtue of their skin colour.
    I know which I prefer.
