What a crock of offal!

Sugar addict: ‘I had 85 teaspoons a week‘..’
The article goes on to tell us how scientists are deeply concerned–sugar is responsible for everything from ingrown toenails to arthritis.
Horsecrap. The campaign against sugar has been gathering momentum for a while…perhaps fat bastards are looking for a scapegoat?
Wabbit consumes a minimum of five coffees per day, each one with 3 spoons of sugar. That’s 105 teaspoons, just in coffee, before he gets started on sweet cakes and biscuits and cereal.
No ill effects. None. Nada. Total health problems consist of an occasionally very painful back, and that’s due to injuries, not diet.

    Agreed.
    Just more health-nazi BS.

another gravy train for unemployed[unemployable] crack pot academics…they are NOT scientists …good science went out the window with pop cult funding..
sugar or fat = energy…..use it or store it[if sugar AND fat]……end of story.
I turned off to these dietary academic and health board fanatic fuckwits when one said more than one meat pie every 6 months was bad for you…even hearing eating too much fruit is bad for you now……this suits them I guess because they are lazy sedentary office slugs who wouldn’t know the working end of a hammer; let alone using one.[or actually doing any physically demanding work at all]
…problem is ..[yet again] it’s becoming another verse in their religious chants…”no drink.no smoke no fat no sugar and we all live happily ever after”
I thought the Demolition Man[Wes Snipes & Sylvester Stone] was just a bad movie …again fact is stranger than fiction.

Yep. My dietary principles are simple– don’t over-eat and burn off what you do eat.
Looking for food in supermarkets which isn’t fat, sugar and salt reduced is becoming a challenge, too.

Sigh……now, if true, wouldn’t you expect a rush to disavow the bullshit computer models which allegedly “prove” C02’s role in AGW?
But no. Silence. In fact, since the release of that paper there have been several statements from the IPCC and others about the “massive” increase in Co2 and the awful implications of that.
These bastards can’t even get their lying ducks in a row.

  4. Darin says:

Sugar is not the problem,Corn sweetener is and it’s in everything we eat.But it was heralded as a miracle food by the same experts who said hydrogenated soybean oil was better than butter and lard.Bullshit on both counts as we now know we were lied to.

We are also finidng out now that it’s the fat that builds up in and around our internal organs that does the damage.Fat ouside the muscle and rib cage means nothing IIRC.

  5. Seneca III says:

Your sugar consumption is the pretty much the same as mine, KG, and like you I believe ‘burn off ‘ is the answer. At 71, discounting the loss of muscle tone that is an inevitable consequence of the aging process, as is the agro that all of the old injuries give me in cold weather**, I am pretty much in the same shape as I was 50 years ago.

** Trigger fingers still fully functional, though.

    • KG says:

Glad to hear it, Seneca. It seems to me that 90% of the supposed ill-effects of various foods are due to lack of exercise and over-consumption, not the foods themselves.
(Hopefully, the trigger finger will be the last to succumb to age, eh? Mine’s still flexible enough too)
