I bet they don’t care too much for Norman Rockwell, either…

    • KG says:

Hell no! His work is “unsophisticated”, you see. Which word is code for too accessible to the peasants who are forced to fund the shit that passes for “art” nowadays.

  2. Darin says:

The “art” world is controlled by gay men with no artistic talent whatsoever.Of course they don’t like Vettriano, his subject matter is Heterosexual and what’s worse he actually gets paid for his work based on it’s appeal to the masses as opposed to some shitty con job program funded with money stolen from the public coffers such as our NEA.

  3. KG says:

    Darin’s nailed it.

KG and Ron,years ago my middle brother gave up the construction trade and decided to attend Nursing school. He already had a BS in Biology. The university he attended refused to give him credit for his BS degree, even though he finished with a 4.0 GPA.That was bad enough.

What was worse the course requirement demanded X number hours of Art&Culture for completion.Every year they were required to attend the NEA showing at the University in order to complete the years course work. They also had to bring along a guest.

Okay,so I volunteered to go see me some Art.We get there, about 40 odd exhibits on display,”guest” my ass, they charged admission. We go in and start taking in the spectacle.Every form of shit was on display, sometimes literally.

The winner of the “modern category” was a wooden platform, with two toilets facing tank to tank, both painted polka dot with a stream of colored water going from one tank to the other.$150,000 or some such obscene amount grant was the winning prize. In all the stuff there that was original and new none of it was any good and most was bordering on an offense worth killing over.

There was one booth with some Goya etchings on display, subject matter was a bit Dark, but it was Goya afterall. The only other was a booth featuring some George Ohr pottery. Both Artists don’t appeal to me for their style so much, but for their mastery of their chosen media.Goya’s fine etchings and Ohr’s extremely thin pottery and exotic glazes are examples of extreme skill IMHO.
So all in all it wasn’t too painfull a day,but as I was taking in the Orh exhibit this fairy walks up and asks me my opinion on the show.Mistake on his part since I gave it to him with both barrels.I told him should the building catch fire I would save the Goya and Ohr work and let the rest burn to save space in the landfill.Furthermore if something is done that anyone can do with very little effort it’s not art and whoever did the award winning piece should kill themselves and give the money to a deserving Plumber because at least the Plumber would not fuck up the classic lines of a White Vitrified China Standard toilet.
At the time I had no idea I was talking to THE “artist”/plumber,but hopefully he took my advice.http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_cool.gif

Any of you not familiar with Ohr- AKA The Mad Potter of Biloxi.-
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_E._Ohr

His work was thrown clay pottery much of it with less than 1/8″ thick walls.Dam difficult to achieve on a potter’s wheel.

“Art and Culture” for nursing?? WTF???

        • Darin says:

That’s what my brother said

It’s required indoctrination,it also costs more money which stuffs the wallet of the university. Those communists that run the Universities sure do like making money donchanow?http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_scratch.gif

The self-apointed ‘critics’ will ALWAYS pan anything that appeals to the nasty common man.

  5. KG says:

Harold Bloom nailed it, in his book “The Western Canon”. Most modern artists are obsessed by what he calls the “anxiety of influence”.
They’re so desperate to produce something novel, in order to demonstrate that their work isn’t influenced by the masters in whatever medium, that they produce novel shit, and newness becomes a virtue in itself.
The language of art has become dense and almost meaningless to anybody not in the club, and of course there are legions of art snobs too dishonest or too afraid to admit they don’t have any fucking idea what the critics are babbling about.
The emperor has no clothes, and very few people dare say so. Because few people are willing to be labelled ignorant peasants by the vicious creeps sucking off the public tit and the gullible.

Nailed it KG. These public tit art clowns are life-long non-entity underachievers.
