Francis Porretto:

‘..Present trends, the voracity of the State and its ever more intrusive penetration of our affairs, and the slowly stiffening resistance of private persons to being preyed upon suggest that the police will soon become an instrument no longer aimed at the lawbreaker, but solely at the law-abider: the man who wants only to be left alone in the peaceable enjoyment of what’s rightfully his. The State wants total control of what he has and does; as violence and intimidation are its methods, the police — ever more thuggish, ever more militarized, ever less mindful of rights or justice — will be its means…’       Source

Being “left alone in the peaceable enjoyment of what’s rightfully his” is rapidly becoming more difficult.
Indeed, the demand to be left alone and to insist on one’s privacy is now regarded with suspicion and sometimes open hostility.
Me and Gecko state in the plainest terms that we don’t socialize, don’t wish to join anything and we’re perfectly happy with only one another’s company except when with a very few good friends.

How fitting. Just to the right of your comment, on your side bar —there.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.”

That being the case, the initial reaction, upon you discovering where one is hiding might be “oh, oh” vomit
      just prior to something else.

The two of you are “The Last of The Independents”

(Hey! This would be an excellent idea for a book/movie/song)

The powers that be are shutting down all the independents in the world.
