      It’s sad, it really is. That article was compelling reading.
      I’ll talk about Maori. The thing is – when they *do* make an effort and succeed, they are *really good people* to be around! There are a couple of them on my floor at work who are really good sorts.

      As for black people in the US – you couldn’t get a better black guy than Allen West. A *truly* inspiring guy.
      A New Zealand equivalent would be the Victoria Cross recipient Willie Apiata, who inspires *everyone* over here.

      • Agree, Thor. It’s a damn tragedy that the good gets swamped by the unspeakable. But until blacks themselves begin to stand up in real numbers and reject the welfare/victim role allocated them by the socialists, nothing will change.

    2. Graduated high school in 1964 as last segregated class before integration. Several years later myself and a few buddies went to a basketball game at our alma mater. Including ourselves, there were four other whites [2 coaches, 2 officials] and 300 black kids in the building. We left stunned at the entire spectacle and have never been back. It was and is much as this teacher described. Contemptible.

A lot of the same racist attitudes among blacks carry over into mixed couples.Having known a few and observed the trials they go through one thing becomes clear.White families will almost always accept the black spouse with open arms.The reverse is true of black families,especially if it is a black woman in the relationship.

    I knew one where the white husband’s family was textbook redneck.I figured they would never accept his black wife.Turned out the opposite was true.His family welcomed her with open arms an she became family almost overnight.Her family with the exception of her parents disowned her to the point they wouldn’t even return her phone calls.

  7. I’m not sure its a black issue per se but sure seems to be most apparent in blacks. Much of what I see of African kids sponsored by Christian benefatcors (where my heart lies) is excellent. Many are inspiring so I think its more a cultural and self esteem issue in the US . Looking back a couple of generations I’m not sure this type of nonsense would have been apparent to this scale. The Tuskagee airmen for example were hardly ruffians like these? Still, it can’t be ignored and at some point a stand will be taken – self preservation will require it.

    • Brown,the single biggest factor in the current state of affairs in the American Black community is by and large the result of 50 years of social welfare state and the entitlement mindset it fostered.

      Looking back at black education and employment numbers from before welfare implementation we can see they were much better off back then.

        Years ago I was working in a mission hospital in rural South Africa. The patients and nursing staff were all African. The patients were humble but proud Zulus who had a hand to mouth existence off a few crops and several goats and cows. The nursing staff were the elite who were proud of their achievement and to whom the education of their children was primary. I enjoyed working there and the people. Several years later I was working in an inner city hospital for black people – all Zulus as well. The patients were violent drunks and the staff were heavily politicised urban Zulus. It was like chalk and cheese with a continual undercurrent of racism and being ‘hard done by’ dividing the medical and nursing staff. I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

    • Brown, you’ve – perhaps inadvertently – stumbled upon what I believe to be the very heart of the problem. Too much focus on self-esteem and too little on self-respect. I would say everyone who comments here knows te difference without having to think about it. I wonder how many others do?

  10. The article was spot on concerning the two-thirds of American blacks on the welfare dime, but even the one-third that are decent folks reflect the black racism of the lower class blacks.

    Of course, there are exceptions, but black patriot Americans are so few they no doubt hold their meetings at back table in Starbucks.

    I’m an old timer and still remember the 1950s in Huntington, West Virginia, a northern, southern city, in the pre-welfare state days when you worked or starved.

    Thus in those days of old, most blacks had strong families that centered on the church. For instance, my grandparents on my mother’s side were pretty much wiped out by the Great Depression, and when WW II started and jobs were available they couldn’t take advantage for because of poor health and stayed poor. They rented a house in a mixed neighborhood of blacks and whites, and I can’t tell you how many acts of kindness their black neighbors gave them over the years, and as kid who visited often, I formed a very positive impression of black people.

    So I have to conclude the problem is AMSOC – American Socialism that destroyed the black family starting in 1960s and turned the kids into barbarians who breed barbarians who breed barbarians… :evil:
