Remembrance Day
This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
I’m glad to see someone else in the antipodes observes the 11th Nov. today is for all my relatives who gave their lives in the two WW’s. Their sacrifices have somehow been written out of the history books.
For all of mine too, Mawm.
Looking at the coverage in today’s online “news” services, it’s very sparse indeed. I guess it doesn’t mean much to the self-absorbed ignorant bastards who pass for journalists nowadays. Either that, or – being leftards – they’re actively opposed to remembering their betters.
TAPS for the fallen heroes of Great Britain, America, Australia and New Zealand who gave their lives in defense of God and Country in the wars of the 20th century
…21st century as well…
You see…………..written out of the history books. Hey Dumbo South Africa was part of the Allied Forces in both World Wars and in Korea. And then there was the little bit of support we gave the CIA sponsored Angola push against Communist expansion. All this got written out of the history books when we were forced to leave the Commonwealth.
It sure did.
I wonder how many readers realize that there were 11 VC’s won by South Africans during both World Wars. Not many I expect….as mawm quite rightly points out we simply got written out of the history books and then stabbed in the back by our so called” allies”.
The UK and Europe have forgotten. They are both hellbent on their courses of cultural suicide, submitting to the left and Islam.
What short memories they have. Fools.
FWIW I forgot Guy Fawkes but remembered today.
It’s good that the west remembers them, i just hope and pray their blood still runs strong through the veins of their sons and daughters today for freedom and liberty will come calling soon enough.
So do I, Mathew. But I have my doubts.
Left this at Mustang’s site- it fits here:

I see the poppies on the coaching staffs in the Hockey world-(Babcock- a Canadian– coach of the Detroit Red Wings– has been wearing his for over a week!) many are from Canada where poppies are still considered a tribute to our fighting forces-past and present–I see few here in the US –
We kids used to wear the poppies to school –
A Michigander by birth – now Californian
The Canadians seem to hold their armed forces in great esteem, Carol, but the divide between those who do and those who don’t is true all across the West.
I helped out for the day in my 5yr old sons class yesterday here in Perth, Aus. I was impressed when about 10am the teacher had the kids sit on the mat and they talked about Remembrance Day and what and who it was they were remembering. Morning recess ended early at 10.55 and then at 11am the school PA came on with the Last Post playing, in the class all the kids stopped what they were doing, stood still, head bowed and quiet until the PA had finished playing Reveille. It bought a tear to my eye.
Great story, Lester and I suspect one that isn’t repeated in very many schools. My hat’s off to that teacher. Thanks for that.
I had a similar experience when my daughter was at school in Melbourne, Lester.
Contrast that with my experience here in the Cuba of the South Pacific (aka “New Zealand”), where – not only did my daughter not mention her school observing remembrance, but when the announcement came over the PA at work, I had to explain its meaning to many of my work colleagues!
Now, that brought a tear to my eye!
I hear you, I was in the NZ Defence Force for many years and was often amazed at the lack of knowledge and respect for the day, ANZAC Day was the focus and Nov11 never got a look in.
We moved to Perth in Aug2011 and I will always remember the first Remembrance Day here, I was gobsmacked the radio station I was listening to at work played the Last Post and was then silent for 2 full minutes, on commercial radio!!
“But I have my doubts.”
30 years of progressive education has destroyed all that.
Frightening, isn’t it, how quickly so much can be lost? And the bastards aren’t finished yet.
